60 Days Prayer & Fasting: Evangelism (Day 59)
1 Timothy 2:3-4
God refreshed us! God revived us! God met with us! But is that all that there is to it, what should come after this time of refreshing?
Acts 3:19-21
New King James Version
19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,
20 and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before,
21 whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.
Scripture says that times of refreshing would come from the presence of the LORD, to prepare the believer for the time of restoration that is to come. This means that each time the believer receives a time of refreshing, like we did at Christ Life Camp Lagos 2025, it is to prepare us for something that is to come – the time of restoration. It means that God uses those moments to prepare for a harvest that is to come at the end of age when Christ returns.
The problem is many of us are just excited about the encounters and forget that there is a time of restoration that these encounters prepare us for, there is a reason why God has placed you on the earth at this point in time, there is a part you have to play in this time of restoration that is coming !
1 Thessalonians 5:1-6
New King James Version
1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.
2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.
4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
Scripture talks about a certain day that is to come in history of the earth called, the Day of the LORD. The Apostle Paul describes this day to be one that brings sudden destruction that one cannot escape from. Jesus also speaks about this same day, and he compares it to the time of Noah, where the earth was destroyed with floods.
Matthew 24:36-42,44
New King James Version
36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.
41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.
42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.
44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Jesus emphasizes to his listeners in this sermon that no one knows the day or hour that he would return, he says just like it was in Noah’s time with the flood, people would suddenly be taken away, two men talking and suddenly one is taken and the other left, two women grinding mill together and suddenly one of them is taken and other is left! As he concludes this intense sermon, he tells them in verse 44 to be ready.
It is one thing for you to know that something is coming and it’s another thing for you to be prepared for it. Jesus advises his disciples and all who have hearts to listen that they should choose to be prepared.
The Apostle Paul later teaches the Church in Thessalonica even further,
1 Thessalonians 5:4-6
New King James Version
4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
He says, See that you are not asleep as others do! See to it that you remain awake, alert, prepared, expectant for the coming of the LORD.
Because as a child of light, the day of the LORD doesn’t have to come like a thief in the night, because you already know it’s coming, and this knowledge helps you keep preparing each day for his arrival.
You see the Apostle giving a similar instruction to what Jesus said, to be watchful and sober! Soberness describes the disposition you have when you have an exam tomorrow and you’re preparing all night for it. You do all you can just to remain awake, so you can prepare for that exam. It speaks about the seriousness and watchfulness with which you approach something important.
The day of the LORD is not a myth or a fluke, that was made up to make us conform. It is a real biblical truth that has been prophesied about.
Joel 1:15
New King James Version
15 Alas for the day! For the day of the LORD is at hand; It shall come as destruction from the Almighty.
Amos 5:16
New King James Version
16 Therefore the LORD God of hosts, the Lord, says this: “There shall be wailing in all streets, And they shall say in all the highways, ‘Alas! Alas!’ They shall call the farmer to mourning, And skillful lamenters to wailing.
Not only is it a biblical truth, but even scientists are now predicting that there is a day coming when the earth will be destroyed by some cosmic event. They’ve come up with all sorts of theories about this. But scripture already told us what is to come, that the earth is destined for destruction and it wouldn’t be here forever! As thrilling and chilling as this sounds, this is the reality for every man who hasn’t placed faith in Christ.
But we serve God who has revealed himself to be merciful, compassionate and loving. He has desired for all men to be saved from this coming destruction
John 3:16-17
New King James Version
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
2 Peter 3:8-9
New King James Version
8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
Hallelujah! Peter was teaching about the day of the LORD, and he says that God is not slacking in his promise to come again, but the fact that he hasn’t come yet is because there are still many people to save! He wills that all should come to repentance.
1 Timothy 2:3-4
New King James Version
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
God desires for all men to see him, to know him, be transformed by his light, to be part of his kingdom!
That is why, when Jesus came on the scene, at the beginning of his earthly ministry, he first of all preached that the kingdom of God is at hand!
Mark 1:15
New King James Version
15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
Hallelujah! What was unattainable, what was unreachable by any human standards, God came in human flesh to offer it to us — eternity with him in Heaven!
Jesus could say this because he is the way, the truth and the life!
All men can find salvation through him, no matter who they are, by believing in the Son of God, they will be saved! This is God giving a free one-way access ticket into his kingdom!
It’s not enough to know this; we must tell it to others because we know this is what truly saves. You can’t say you truly love a person and not be willing to help them when you see them heading for danger. This would be you if you still have family members, colleagues, friends, neighbors within your sphere of influence that don’t believe in Jesus, and you haven’t bothered to preach to them!
Romans 10:14-15
New King James Version
14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”
God is counting on us to take what we’ve received from him, this message of peace, this good news of salvation, to the ends of the earth, starting from our spheres of influence!
How will they know, if you never tell them?
This is a call for a greater commitment to evangelism! Because you know that the message you carry can change the world, and the world needs what you have.
This is a call to put aside timidity and embrace the call to the ministry of reconciliation that we’ve received, so that men can come to know the lord and be changed!
Prayer Point
Father! As I pray right now, I open my heart to a greater commitment to evangelism! I become more committed to the ministry of reconciliation! After this time of refreshing, I spread the message and the fire of the kingdom of God to every region more powerfully!
