60 Days Prayer & Fasting: Priorities of God (Ministry) Day 30
2 Corinthians 5:18-19
As believers, we are not saved to sit idly in comfort; we are saved to serve. Scripture calls us bondservants of Christ; those who live not for themselves, but for the will of their Master. Our service is not born of mere obligation, but of love and gratitude for the grace we’ve received in Christ. And at the center of that service is ministry.
The Great Commission is not a suggestion; it is a command. Jesus’ words in Matthew 28:19-20 show us that the heartbeat of God is souls and that men and women across the earth may know Him, be baptized into His family, and be discipled into His truth. To partner with God in this mission is the greatest honor and responsibility of the believer’s life.
Paul explains it clearly:
2 Corinthians 5:18-19
New King James Version
18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
Notice that He has given us the ministry. This is not the job of pastors, evangelists, or missionaries alone. Every believer carries this mandate. Ministry is not restricted to pulpits, microphones, or church titles; ministry is living daily with the commitment to make Christ known wherever you are.
The Scriptures remind us of heaven’s priority:
Luke 15:10
New King James Version
10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
Think about this: heaven bursts into celebration every single time one person turns to God. If heaven rejoices over souls, how can we remain indifferent? What God values most must become our deepest priority.
Our Father desires salvation for all:
1 Timothy 2:3-4
New King James Version
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
This is why Jesus came, humbled Himself, and died. Ministry, the reconciliation of man to God, is the reason for the cross. And if this mattered enough for Christ to give His life, then it must matter more than anything else to us.
We must resist the urge to make careers, ambitions, and comforts our sole focus.
These things are not wrong in themselves, but they are tools, not the mission. Ministry, soul-winning, discipleship, and kingdom advancement are eternal. Jesus captured this urgency when He said:
John 9:4
New King James Version
4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
There is an urgency to ministry. Opportunities to preach, disciple, and serve will not last forever. The world is in desperate need of salvation, and we carry the answer which is Christ.
Paul echoes this call to service:
Romans 12:11
New King James Version
11 Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.
And again:
1 Corinthians 15:58
New King James Version
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Service is the believer’s response to grace. Ministry is not occasional; it is a life. It means seeing your job as a pulpit, your home as a discipleship hub, your influence as a ministry tool. When you align with this, everything else takes on eternal significance.
Prayer Point
Father, I thank You for entrusting me with the ministry of reconciliation. Thank You for reconciling me to Yourself and calling me into Your eternal purpose. Lord, help me to live not for myself but in service to You. Teach me to see the urgency of ministry, to seize every opportunity to share Christ, and to disciple others. Let my life be poured out as an offering that brings You glory. Amen.
