60 Days Prayer & Fasting: Tenacity Day 2
Romans 8:32
Welcome to Day 2 of our special season of prayer and fasting.
And for 60 days, we are going to be raising an altar of prayer, worship, and incense to God. We would be consecrating ourselves and fasting as we wait on the lord these 60 days.
Yesterday we began speaking about what to expect in these 60 days, and today we will continue from where we stopped yesterday.
I once heard an analogy that some people can relate to.
Did you ever have to share soda as a kid, maybe with friends or with your siblings?
How did you feel when you had your very first soda all to yourself? You must have been in disbelief the first time.
Or have you ever visited a wealthy person’s house, and they gave you something you would usually have to wait for special occasions to get?
That feeling you get is the type of feeling a person would have if he had never been saved and never had the holy spirit, but was allowed for a moment to have a taste of it.
Just tasting that once would be everything.
In a way, this reminds us of The Spirit of God, so special.
So luxurious that Stephen says God cannot dwell in temples made with hands.
You can’t build Him a house, but then he’s okay to live inside you, to dwell inside you, do you understand what I’m saying?
The songwriter can say “The Holy Ghost is locked up in my earthen vessel”. What a privilege, what a joy!
So, like the surprise you must have experienced when you had for the first time something you would not usually have at home, when you have the spirit, it is just as mind-blowing.
And not just for 1 minute, which will be special, which will be the greatest privilege of your life to house God for even just one minute or for one day.
But he comes inside you and he says I am always with you, even to the end of the age. Always.
Oh my God!
This is lavish generosity. What did we do to deserve this?
That God can speak to you by his spirit? What did you do to deserve this?
You can expect miracles. What did we do to deserve this?
We can expect supernatural favour.
Everything we receive supernaturally is a privilege.
And the most mind-blowing part of it is that it’s free.
If it is salvation or healing, whatever it is, is free!
Anything supernatural that you have to pay for is most likely fake. It’s one of our tests of sound doctrine as well. Once I have to pay for healing, for salvation, or tie my faith by giving, something is definitely wrong somewhere.
The moment any man of God charges money for prayer, run the other way. Don’t pray about it. He’s false.
He’s either fundamentally false or he lost his way. But either way, he’s not in the will of God.
The Bible says in
Romans 8:32
New King James Version
32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
So, if God gave us his best in Christ Jesus, what will he charge you for? For prayer, for healing, for a job?
If it is from God, it must be free.
He said, freely, you have received freely give.
You see, the sorcerer, Simon, saw more value in this thing than some of us see because that’s his business. He does demonstrations and earns money. And he sees believers doing it for free, laying hands on people, and they receive this spirit. He offered money immediately, “Give me this power”. And to this, the apostle responded, “Your money perish with you”. So as big as it is, you must never offer money for it.
That’s the best part. The biggest thing you can ever have in your life is free. It’s something more than gold. You were not saved with perishable things such as gold or silver; the biggest thing you can ever have in your life is free.
I said all of that to get to this point:
It is free, but it is conditional.
Many Christo-centrics struggle with this part, including me.
You know, there was a song that many Christo-centrics had an issue with when it came out. “If I don’t pray, satan would make a mess of me”.
We said it’s wrong because the devil cannot make a mess of the believer. But the singer is correct to an extent, because if you don’t pray, Satan can mess you up. Not because he has more power, but because you are not guarded, because you don’t know, because you are not covered. He can try at least. And even if he did not cause your fall, he can deceive you and capitalize on your mistakes.
The fact that you have all authority and the battle has already been won does not mean that if you don’t have knowledge of it and put it to practice, the devil would not take advantage.
We know who we are in Christ, and we are quick to confess, I know who I am. But usually, there is a consecration that comes with the provision that we have not been exposed to. What I’m saying, in essence, is that just because there is no price for it doesn’t mean there is no condition to it. And even what is yours will come with conditions.
I have discovered that believers who do the barest minimum never really step into their true potential in God. Anyone who is always doing the bare minimum will miss out on so many things. It could be yours but because you are doing the bare minimum, you’ll never truly step into all that God has called you to do.
Do you know that because God said something would happen in your life does not mean it will happen? Many prophecies are conditional. If you align, it happens. If you steward it, it happens.
God told Elijah that Elisha would be next after him, but he did not tell Elisha. He just said, well, you know what? I’m going to that city. Don’t bother yourself.
Elisha said, I promise you, there is no where you’re going, I won’t follow. They went to Jordan, and he followed. They kept going and he followed from town to town, from state to state. He wasn’t going to give in. He wasn’t going to give up until the end.
Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”
This is how to birth new seasons.
It is something that we need to learn in this generation. We are too convenient.
The supernatural comes with specific configurations and instructions. When God’s trusted prophet tells a leper, “Go to the Jordan and wash”, and the leper says, “Can I just use my swimming pool?” and goes ahead, he will not be healed.
The moment that prophetic word was spoken, your miracle is in that place. The moment God placed in my heart as the prophet over this house that we should fast 60 days, your miracles and results became tied to the end of that instruction. If you want to see it, you have to labour.
For some of you, your miracle is in specific instructions. If you are always looking for the easy way out, it won’t happen.
Of all the ways that God wanted to heal a blind man, he takes clay, and he spat on it.
I am saying all of this to still emphasize that for everything the lord gives, there are consecrations for it. Specific instructions all through the scriptures came with disciplines, or protocols.
Fasting and Prayer are the protocol for direction in the spirit, for miracles, for answers, for transformation, for results.
There is a kind of tenacity that you must have.
When the prophet told King Joash, “You would discomfit your enemies.” This is the prophetic instruction. “Strike your arrow on the floor”.
I would have struck till the next day. This is what we are speaking about, the barest minimum, you just struck three times, and you stopped.
That’s what some of you do.
Your appetite is always getting the best of you. When they say fast, it’s you who wants to break at 12 pm, “must it be 6 pm?”
It might just be why you are where you are.
Anyone who is excelling in spiritual things has that hunger, that tenacity. You must have it. You must have it. You must have it!
That’s why you must abandon laziness this season. This relationship between you and laziness. You must break up.
Proverbs 26:15
New King James Version
15 The lazy man buries his hand in the bowl; It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth.
You are hungry, and you put your hand in the food. But the journey between your hand and mouth is a lot. You think this is not you but every time you know what to do, and don’t do it, then it’s you.
Just push for more, study more, pray more, stretch more.
Don’t be lazy, show up to the consecration. Show up and do it well.
Strike the arrow a thousand times.
If you knew that your miracle was at the end of these 60 days, how would you pray?
If you knew your answers were at the end of these 60 days, how would you pray?
If you knew your ministry capacity is at the end of these 60 days, how would you pray?
If you knew devotional bliss is at the end of these 60 days, how would you pray?
Pray this way:
Dear God, for everything you have made available for me freely, as I pray now and, in this season, I take hold of it.
Nothing passes me by.
With Love,
The Catalyst,
Pastor Michael Ipaye
