7 Days of Glory - Day 2
2 Chronicles 7:1-3
Welcome to Day 2 of our special season of prayer and fasting themed ‘ 7 Days of Glory.’
Reflecting on the message I shared with you yesterday, we have entered a season of divine transformation by the glory of God. It is a time to be immersed in a baptism of fire. This is a time when the glory of God is set to manifest fully in our midst. It is a season of consecration and preparation for all God is set to do in and through us. It is a season to experience the glory of God in every part of our lives.
Exodus 19:14-17
New King James Version
14 So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and sanctified the people, and they washed their clothes.
15 And he said to the people, “Be ready for the third day; do not come near your wives.”
16 Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled.
17 And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.
This text shows how the children of Israel conducted themselves when God said He was going to meet with them. They received instructions on washing their clothes, and staying from their wives to consecrate themselves as they prepared for that meeting. Here, we learn that there is a way to respond when God calls for a season such as this. Our response must be consecration, being set apart, letting go of distractions so that we may receive the fullness of all that God has in store.
Exodus 24:16-18
New King James Version
16 Now the glory of the LORD rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
17 The sight of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.
18 So Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
The Bible says the sight of the Glory of God was like a Consuming Fire. It is worthy of note that this is not the first time that God was revealing himself to the Israelites using fire. Through these scriptures, we have come to understand that when the Glory of God- His power, might, and majesty is expressed in a physical way, it comes like fire, thundering, lightning or cloud.
2 Chronicles 7:1-3
New King James Version
1 When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
2 And the priests could not enter the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’s house.
3 When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD on the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped and praised the LORD, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever.”
After Solomon prayed in the temple, the Bible records that all the children of Israel saw how the fire of the Lord came down and how the glory of God filled the temple. At this sight, the priests could not enter into the temple to continue their duties and all of the children of Israel bowed, worshipping and praising God.
Acts 7:44-50
New King James Version
44 “Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He appointed, instructing Moses to make it according to the pattern that he had seen,
45 which our fathers, having received it in turn, also brought with Joshua into the land possessed by the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers until the days of David,
46 who found favor before God and asked to find a dwelling for the God of Jacob.
47 But Solomon built Him a house.
48 “However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says:
49 ‘Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the LORD, Or what is the place of My rest?
50 Has My hand not made all these things?’
In this scripture, Stephen stood before the council which had plotted against him, giving a sermon. He says the Israelites had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness which was built by Moses exactly as he had seen in heaven. He also says that Solomon built a temple for God but God was not in any of those temples made with hands. Remember that in these temples was fire which was to signify the glory of God, yet, Stephen says that God was not in any of those temples.
Ephesians 2:19-22
New King James Version
19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,
20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone,
21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,
22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
Now from these verses, we know where God dwells. Paul writing to the church in Ephesus says that we, fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God are being built together for the dwelling place of God in the spirit. This has always been God’s plan! To dwell in man. You are made a habitation for God. Paul makes this clearer in subsequent letters.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17
New King James Version
16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
Know this in your heart, you are the temple of God and the Spirit of God dwells in you! God has made you his dwelling place. He never dwelt in temples made with hands, now He lives in you by his Spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:19
New King James Version
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
From these verses, it is clear that the scriptures anticipated the day when the Spirit of God would be present among and inside His people. Therefore, the temple in the Old Testament was a shadow of the believer and if whenever the glory of God was present, the Israelites saw fire, it must mean that if indeed the glory of God is present in the believer, he must also be on fire.
1 Kings 18:30-39
New King James Version
30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.
31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”
32 Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed.
33 And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, “Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.”
34 Then he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time.
35 So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.
36 And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.
37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.”
38 Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The LORD, He is God! The LORD, He is God!”
This is an interesting story that shows you God’s idea for your devotion. The prophets of Baal had set up their altar and called on their god for fire and there was no response, they had cut themselves, prayed to their god, and danced around the altar all to no avail. However, Elijah repaired the altar, instructed that the people poured water on the altar three times and in the evening he came to the altar, prayed and fire came down on the altar consuming all that was on it, licking up the water that was in the trenches!
This is what you must learn, that if Elijah who did not have the Holy Ghost could call fire on an external altar, you- the temple of the living God, who houses the Holy Ghost can call fire on your internal altar.
How can you do this? It’s simple: Prayer!
Matthew 21:12-13
New King James Version
12 Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.
13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.'”
Jesus went to the physical temple in his day. When he got there the bible said he chased all those who were buying and selling in that place.
He quoted the prophet, Isaiah
Isaiah 56:7
New King James Version
7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices Will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”
From what we have seen in scripture, it is a fact that the House of the Lord is the believer. This means the believer must be a house of prayer always. This is how the fire would burn continually. This is the baptism of fire! You can call down fire on the altar of your heart and chase out what does not belong there.
Romans 12:1-2
New King James Version
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
The Bible says to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. To be a living sacrifice means to be ever-burning. This is the glory of God in your devotion, that your house is a house of prayer, that the fire on the altar of your heart is always kept burning. This is that season to rekindle that fire in prayer and to burn even brighter.
Prayer Point: I call down fire on the Altar of my heart beginning from today, by the glory of God, the fire of the Lord does not stop burning in my heart. I fan it to flames in prayer, I become a man/Woman of prayer. I receive this baptism of fire.
