Galatians 6:2

One of the clearest signs of spiritual maturity is not in how much you know, but how deeply you care for others. This is because your theology must influence your thoughts and actions, and when it comes to the church, from your dealings and fellowship with other brethren in Christ, you must reflect the heart of Jesus.

Galatians 6:2 reminds us
New King James Version
2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

This scripture is not a mere suggestion, but an instruction. Now that you have been born again into the family of God, you have a responsibility towards your siblings in Christ. This does not mean to merely encourage people, although that has its place. The responsibility is now on you to share in their pain as well as their happiness.

Scripture also says in Romans 12:15
New King James Version
15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

This is because of the bond that you now share. As believers, we were baptised by one Spirit into one body. This means we are accountable for one another.

Romans 15:1-2
New King James Version
1 We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.

When one of us hurts, we respond with care and presence. When another rejoices, we celebrate and share in their joy. This is how the love of Christ finds expression through us.
To bear one another’s burdens is to step into their reality.
This is why Hebrews 13:3 says to “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them-those who are mistreated-since you yourselves are in the body also.”

What this teaches is that you must refuse to look away when someone is struggling. It means to offer strength where there is weakness and comfort where there is pain.
This is the true nature of Christ.
Jesus did not stand at a distance from our brokenness; he stepped into it.
In this same way, you are called to reflect that love in how you care for others.

True maturity, therefore, is revealed not in isolation, but in responsibility.
It is seen in your willingness to carry what does not directly concern you, simply because it concerns someone in Christ.

So today, do not look away.
Do not remain indifferent.
Be intentional about the people God has placed around you.
Ask yourself:
Whose burden can I help carry?
Who needs my strength, my presence, or my support today?
Because in bearing one another’s burdens, you are not just helping a person, you are expressing the love of Christ and fulfilling His law.

Prayer Point
Father, I come before you today to ask for the grace to love as Christ loves, and to care for my brethren as he cares for us. Teach me to reflect the true heart of Jesus in service and compassion toward fellow believers.
