If you received good news right now, maybe a scholarship or a job offer, what would be your first response?
Some would scream.
Some would pick up their phone to call a friend.
Some would start drafting a LinkedIn post, and you just know it’ll be engaging.

But all of these responses point to one thing: You don’t keep good news to yourself. Good news is meant to be shared.

In Scriptures, the Gospel is the translation of the Greek noun Euangelion, which means “good news”. The Gospel is that God has fulfilled His plan to accept the death of Jesus as payment for our sins and has since then bestowed eternal life on all who believe. And once you believe in this message, you are saved.

The Gospel is Good news, and you know that Good news is to be shared, so this calls you to do something. Share it!
This year, you are reminded of this very important mandate: to share this Good News with everyone around you.

In John 3:16, it explains that God loved the world in the manner that He sacrificed His Son for our sakes.
The Bible says that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
This is Good News.

The unfortunate part is that anyone who doesn’t believe is condemned to hell, but we have an escape in Jesus. So when you hear that your sins have been paid for and forgiven, that gives you something to rejoice over!

Romans 1:16
New King James Version
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

The Gospel is not a self-help message or feel-good message, but the power of God that changes lives; the power of God unto Salvation.

2 Corinthians 5:17
New King James Version
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Apostle Paul says that all things have been made new!
What does this mean? It means that your past is gone; it doesn’t exist anymore. In Christ, you are made new! Hallelujah!
You have been given a new slate, so you don’t need to hold on to the weights of condemnation. God remembers it no more.
To be new also means that you have control, and the control you have now is the fact that we can walk in God’s ways. You can now live by His rules. You are no longer a slave to sin, and you are no longer following after the desires of the flesh. You carry the very presence of the living God on your inside, and there are implications of this reality.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19
New King James Version
18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

This ministry of reconciliation addresses our fundamental human condition.
It is a fact that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”
Because of your sinful nature from birth, you owed a debt that you could never pay.
But out of His deep love for you, Jesus came on the scene and paid your heavy debt by dying on the cross.
He died your death so that you might live for Him.

The Apostle reminds us that every believer has been called to the ministry of reconciliation. This is not reserved for pastors, evangelists, or missionaries; it’s the calling of every believer!
It is your responsibility to help men come to the knowledge of God. It is His desire that none should perish but that all be saved.
This is what Jesus would have you do with the life He has given you.
You are to tell the world the good news of what He has done so they can come to the knowledge of Him!

That same love that was extended to you through Jesus Christ should flow through you to people around you, because now you know better. The only way to have eternal life is to believe in the Gospel.

This is the essence of our witness, our testimony to the nations. As believers, our purpose is to know God and make Him known. This means that after knowing God, we ought to make efforts to let others know about Him too.

Our testimony, our witness, can make an eternal difference in the lives of those around us who still need to hear the Good News. God by Himself won’t come and preach the message by Himself.
He has chosen humans to carry His message of salvation. As His witness, you are called to spread His love and truth to all people, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to know Him and receive the gift of eternal life.

So today, who can you share this good news with?

Prayer Point
Lord, in this year of light, I am constantly reminded of the mandate to share Your Good News. I walk in the new life You have given me, reflecting Your love and truth to everyone around me. Amen.
