Flash Point 4
Zechariah 4:6
Zechariah 4:6
King James Version
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
The passage we just read is one of the visions that the prophet Zechariah received during the rebuilding of Jerusalem and its temple. We see God telling him how he intends to bring to pass what he has said.
One thing you need to know as a believer is that part of the reason why you have the spirit of God is because your divine assignment cannot be accomplished in the flesh. Think about it, the men of God in the Old Testament had to have the Spirit upon them for them to do God’s bidding.
Even in the New Testament, after being given the great commission, the Apostles had to wait till they receive the Holy Ghost to do all that God commissioned them to do.
The Lord clearly says it to Zechariah “It is not by your power, nor is it by your might but by His Spirit. Glory to God! So we must conclude that any God given assignment can only be achieved by the spirit.
And this knowledge should birth something in the life of every believer, and that is: Bravery!
You must be brave in your divine assignment knowing that you are not doing it by your own strength or energy but the zeal of the Lord aids you.
Isaiah 9:7
New King James Version
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Passages like this help us see how much passion God has concerning His purpose, so much so that He concludes by telling you that His zeal will perform it
And this knowledge, the fact that you have the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of God that created everything you see, available to you for your God given assignment ought to stir up Bravery in your heart
You should know and be assured that as God said it, as long as he has sent you, believe that he intends to give you all you need to fulfil it.
You wouldn’t stop because you are not running on your strength and you are not fuelled by your own resources but His.
When you became a Believer, a lot of things about you ceased to be average or natural. At the crux of your faith is the miracle of the resurrection of a Man; that should help you understand that the life in Christ that you have been called to live can not be devoid of power of the spirit.
If your faith came by a man who was dead three days and rose again, then there is no true Christianity without power. Our faith is based on a miracle.
Matthew 26:36-41
New King James Version
36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.”
37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.
38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”
39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?
41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
As the backstory to this passage, Jesus was to go through His suffering in a few hours and He decided to go and pray, but first He takes 3 of His disciples along to pray with Him, which they failed to do.
Before going through one of the most gruesome methods of killing known to man, Jesus being fully man experienced limitations in his flesh. He asked that the cup pass over Him, knowing what he was about to face. But something changed after he spent time praying, he was empowered to do what he was sent to do.
This is flashpoint, the point where everything becomes possible. The point where you receive everything you need for seemingly insurmountable tasks.
In the place of prayer, you are able to rise to this point where any and every assignment becomes achieve able no matter the difficulty.
Jesus who was sorrowful even unto death, comes out of the place of prayer and wakes His disciples up to go face the crucifixion head on.
There are some assignments and instructions that can only be done after spending ample time in prayer and there’s no escaping it. The version of you that would be bold enough, sensitive enough and tough enough is at the other end of your prayers, go and stir it up. You can stir up the ability of God in you.
And so just like that specific temperature or critical moment in which the flashpoint happens, where the object catches fire, you must be able to stay till you reach that flashpoint in the place of prayer. Sometimes not just any type of prayer would cut it.
But then again, the Bible didn’t just tell us the benefits of praying, It also tells us the consequences of not praying. When the Bible tells us in
Luke 18:1
King James Version
1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
He’s telling you implicitly that if you don’t pray, you will faint. You will experience moments of weakness where you may not have the capacity to handle the weight of all God wants you to.
Sometimes the reason is not because you cannot handle it all but because you haven’t built the capacity to handle those times in the place of prayer.
Matthew 26:41
New King James Version
41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Jesus said “the flesh is weak”, so it means that Jesus knows, he knew that they were tired. Jesus knew when you’ve had a long day but in actual fact that is not reason enough not to pray.
The same way you go to the gym, go to class or show up for work even when we’re tired, you must also pray even when you’re tired.
This should be a consistent goal of the believer, to build the muscles of your spirit to be able to take on more, because there is a type of strength that is not curated in the gym. The type of strength that carries you through every assignment it can be stirred up as you pray.
There is wisdom, favor, direction, grace and strength for every single thing God would have you, if you would only pray. Prayer can open up your eyes to see rivers in dry land and ways in the wilderness. You can know the who, the how, the where and when of your God give assignments when you pray.
So we are bold in God and His power, we are brave in His instructions because the zeal of the Lord will perform it.
Prayer point:
Today, I am aided by the spirit of God for my the divine assignment, I am sponsored by the Spirit, the zeal of the Lord takes over and I am brave for all that God wants me to do
