Order By The Spirit 3
Ephesians 5:22-26
Hallelujah! Welcome to Day 3 of our Fasting and Prayer Season for February. We are taking it up a notch today. Make sure that no time of prayer leaves you the same way. God is going to be moving very strongly in these few days, and the way to get the best out of it is to stay conscious, stay focused, and stay intentional. Let this season of fasting and prayer have a lasting effect on your walk with God.
Genesis 1:1-3
King James Version
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
We see here that, the world was “without form and void”, this comes from the Hebrew words, “Tohu Bohu”, which means talks about a state of chaos.
This was where the world was, but then comes the word of God, he said let there be light! And the Bible records that was light.
Grasping the significance of this moment is crucial; from a void filled with turmoil, described as formless and chaotic, a shift occurred. With the Spirit hovering over the waters and God’s word spoken, transformation ensued. Creation unfolded, light dispelled the encompassing darkness, and order was established. This narrative underscores a fundamental principle of divine operation: the harmonious interaction between God’s word and Spirit that instils order from chaos. This is how God operates. There is a synergy between the Word and the Spirit of God that brings order into situations.
Now, knowing this is not enough, you must be able to take advantage of it. You can introduce divine order into any part of your life that seems to be chaotic.
Today, we would be speaking order into families both present and future.
Firstly, it is important for you to realize that God has a particular mindset and order when it comes to how a family should be, and it has been revealed to us in Scripture. Although since the fall of man, many of those Godly ideals have been exchanged for worldly things.
Let’s begin to look at some of them,
Genesis 1:27-28
New King James Version
27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
From the creation story, we see that God created man and woman. He blessed and instructed them to multiply and fill the earth. This is the order and structure of how marriage should be.
Matthew 19:3-5
New King James Version
3 The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”
4 And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’
5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?
Notice here, how Jesus quotes what was said in Genesis. God made man as male and female and commanded them to be fruitful and multiply.
He also said that for this reason, a man must leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This is important because in our world today, people have distorted these ideals.
You hear many youths talking about having desires to be with more than one person at the same time. You hear about people who want to cohabit with people outside of marriage for sexual intercourse. You hear of people who want to have sexual relations with people of the same sex and some with animals. All these ideas that are now popular are alien to God.
Verse 6 reads
6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
You need to realize that before God, man and wife are one flesh. This is the reason why you cannot just jump into relationships for fun. You cannot just jump into marriage. It’s a careful decision to make because when you’re married to that person, you become joined with them.
The rate of divorce around the world keeps rising because people get married to the wrong people for the wrong reasons and ignore the ideals that God set. But marriage in and of itself is God’s idea, he has a plan for it, so it has to be done his way to reap the benefits.
Ephesians 5:22-26
New King James Version
22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.
24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
This is God’s idea for marriage. The husband is the head of the woman, just as Christ is the head of his body; the church, that is, every believer.
The relationship between husband and wife should mirror the relationship between Christ and his church.
The husband is to love, cherish, and give his life for the woman, just as Christ did for his body.
Many people don’t realize that this implies that the husband is to serve the wife and the family. The same way the Bible tells us that Christ came to be in service to us. It is such a man that a wife can be submitted to.
This is why you can’t cleave yourself to just any man. It must be a man that loves God and has a transformed heart. A man who is submitted to God himself. Those are the kind of fathers that can raise Godly children. Maybe you didn’t know but that’s part of God’s plan.
Ephesians 6:4
New King James Version
4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
The family is a man’s first discipleship assignment. It’s an opportunity to bring children into this world and raise them to know and love the lord.
Family is the smallest unit of the society. Imagine, if we all have Godly homes and raise Godly children who have these same Godly ideals, we would influence more people and change many worldly narratives.
Many people have been exposed to chaotic and dark situations because of dysfunctional homes. Many people don’t have strong roots in the faith because their parents didn’t teach them.
But God has a structure for the family. God has an order for the way a family should be. It doesn’t matter what the devil has worked already, by his Word and Spirit, there comes restoration into your life and your home. There comes divine order in your family. Such that you experience a transformation that can help you raise your own Godly family one day.
You can begin to speak order into your home, and order into your future family.
We build Godly families.
We raise children who will know the lord!
Prayer Point:
Father, I declare that from today there is order in my family. Every member of my household comes to know and love the lord. They come to trust in his ways. I declare that even for my future family, I build a godly home and raise godly children that will know and love you.
