This is Day 4 of our Special Fast and Prayer for the month of March and I hope it has been a blast for you. The theme of the fast is Fervor; Effective Prayer. We have emphasized a lot of very important topics as it pertains to prayer; we’ve talked about the necessity of prayer, having the right intensity and consistency in prayer, and also reasons why we need to devote ourselves to more prayer.

We are stepping into a season of prayer and it will require readiness and intentionality on our part to receive all that God will be placing on our radar in the coming days to weeks. It’s a season to be more sensitive than ever, to be more prayed up than ever. Therefore, make sure to take heed to yourself and make the most of this fast.

Yesterday, we talked about the reasons why we should pray, one of them being that prayer projects our faith in God rather than a lack of it. Today, we will be unraveling what it means to have faith in prayer.

When people hear about having faith in prayer, it’s usually towards a particular supernatural need; maybe a healing needed for a family member or divine intervention for a situation in the family.

It’s interesting to note that the Bible actually talks about faith in two different lights.

One of them is Saving Faith, and this is the faith that you had when you believed that the death of Jesus was effective enough for your salvation.

Romans 10:9

New King James Version

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

John 3:16

New King James Version

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

It is true that once you believe and place faith in Christ for your salvation, you indeed receive everlasting life. So even if you die, you know that you will live again because of the endless life you’ve received in Christ by faith alone.

The Bible also talks about, Charismatic faith or mountain-moving faith, which is the topic of interest today. This is the faith you have for a healing or miracle to happen.

Many of us might have looked at the working of miracles or supernatural healing as a Herculean task. Maybe you’ve asked yourself before, “what exactly do you need to do to see that healing or that supernatural intervention you so desperately need?”

Let’s learn about what Jesus has to say about this.

Jesus came across a fig tree that had only leaves and he cursed it that it would bear no fruit ever again. Let’s see what happens the next morning.

Mark 11:20-24

NKJV

20 Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.

21 And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.”

22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.

23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

The fig tree had withered away! It had dried up completely!

But notice what Jesus teaches in this moment, he says, if you have faith and do not doubt you will be able to say to a mountain move and it will be moved into the sea. He says whatsoever you ask when you pray, believe that you have received them and will have them.

This is so powerful! Because this means, that the same way that all you needed was simple faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus to receive eternal life. Jesus tells us that all you need is simple faith in God to receive that miracle.

It’s no Herculean task. It’s nothing difficult. It’s only the simple faith you need.

This is a normal principle to the way things work in our kingdom. In the natural world, seeing is believing. But in our kingdom, believing is seeing.

An example of someone who didn’t understand this is Thomas, he felt he would only believe that Jesus had truly risen from the grave when he saw him for himself.

John 20:26-29

New King James Version

26 And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!”

27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.”

28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”

29 Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

It was only when he had touched him that he believed. But Jesus says, blessed is him that believes yet has not seen.

Think about the woman with the issue of blood. She must have seen all the healers in town for her condition but once she hears about Jesus being in her town, she determines in her heart that if she touches him she would be healed. She had that faith and expectant heart even before meeting Jesus. She had that foresight that she would not remain the same before the miracle even happened (Matthew 9:20-21).

Simple faith is very crucial to how much of the supernatural you can see in your life. The same way you simply had faith for your salvation, is the same way that all it takes is faith that as you pray, you will receive your answer.

Even when the answer doesn’t come immediately, don’t wait till you see it. Jesus said know that when you pray and believe, you have received it.

Shift your mind from worry and doubts and focus on the nature of the one you are speaking to in prayer.

Ephesians 3:20

New King James Version

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us

God can do exceedingly beyond the mark, beyond your expectations, and beyond what we can reason. You can trust him?

Do not grow seeds of doubt. Eliminate it. Believe in the promises, the prophecies of God, and see them happen in your life. Rise in faith today and pray again.

Prayer Point:

Father God, I declare that as I pray today, my faith and convictions are strengthened. I see more of the power of God in my life! More of the charismatic! I have faith in moving the mountains!
