This Same Gospel 2
John 3:16
To become a lawyer, passing the bar exam is required; to become a fully certified accountant, one must obtain a charter. Achieving the title of professional demands diligence, intentionality, and experience. If we invest such dedication and commitment into worldly pursuits, how much more should we be willing to invest in spreading the Gospel?
John 3:16
New King James Version
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
This should bring you joy as it is indeed good news that Jesus died for all of us, was buried, and rose again on the third day. This text reveals that the sole path to eternal life is through believing in Jesus’ completed work.
1 John 4:9-10
New King James Version
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
What makes this incredible and good news is that what He did was not only for one person. He did it for everyone. When He died, He took your place, atoning for your sins; He was buried in your place, and when He resurrected, you also rose with Him.
What really is the gospel?
The Gospel is that God has accepted the death of Jesus Christ as propitiation for our sins and has since given eternal life to all who believe it. It is not enough to know the gospel, we are to believe in the finished works of Christ and preach it to the world. God plans to see all men saved and come to the knowledge of him.
I Timothy 2:3-4
New King James Version
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Matthew 28:18-20
King James Version
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
This text is commonly referred to as “The Great Commission”. Jesus Christ, after His resurrection, instructed His disciples to make disciples of all nations and teach them all he had taught them. Notice he said that they should go, He didn’t tell them to sit down and relax. No, he said that they should go.
The word “ teach all nations “ is the Greek word mathēteuō which means “to make a disciple”, and it indicates the action of causing another to become a disciple; to help someone progressively learn the word of God; to train students, help a believer learn to be a proper disciple of Christ in belief and practice.
Verse 20: “Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you”, implies a transference of knowledge. The disciples were trained by Jesus who was now asking them to teach men. This is God’s structure.
And that’s how the gospel spread throughout the whole world. The message of the gospel was left in the hands of eleven young men who taught it unto others diligently and then taught it to others. Just imagine; eleven men, and now the gospel has spread round and it has reached you and I.
We have a responsibility to disciple others and a lot of people have this notion that it is just for the workers or pastors alone but you have the responsibility as a believer and a member of the church also to make disciples as instructed by Jesus.
John 14:6
New King James Version
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. The whole world should know and hear this good news. Dear believer, what have you done to propagate the gospel? The gospel is good news, tell the world about Jesus today. You should desire to see all men saved, but how will men be saved if we don’t preach to them? The gospel is for everyone; both the rich and poor; the broken and unbroken. Christ gave His life as a ransom for us all, not for a selected few, not for the rich, but for everyone.
Philippians 1:21
New King James Version
21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Your commitment to the Gospel shines through in your complete dedication to it. Being sold out means giving everything. How ready are you to give your all? Are you prepared to sacrifice everything for the Gospel?
Thus, being sold out to the Gospel means having a passionate desire to share it and doing so consistently. How devoted are you to this purpose? In your sphere of influence—at work, in school—how much of the Gospel have you shared?
Beloved believer, let the urgency and passion for spreading the Gospel shine through your life. Christ deserves it, and the Gospel must triumph. But it can only do so through us. Be fully committed today. Contribute to spreading the Gospel, preach it, and live it out.
Prayer Point:
Father, thank you for the message of the Gospel. With every opportunity I have, I make sure to preach the Gospel.
