A great philosopher once said, “You cannot keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.” Similarly, you cannot continue to receive words, instructions, and assignments from God only to forget them before the first quarter of the year ends.

Instead, you must do everything possible to remember and act on every word God has spoken concerning you for the coming year.

We have just concluded a powerful camp meeting where we received profound prophecies, instructions, and insights into God’s will for our lives. These words are not merely meant to inspire us but to serve as a roadmap for the year ahead.

‭‭I Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭18‬ ‭
New King James Version
18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,

In the above quoted text Apostle Paul told Timothy that through prophecies he would wage good warfare!

It is crucial to understand that receiving a prophecy does not automatically guarantee its fulfilment. While God’s word is certain, we have a role to play in bringing it to pass.

How then, can we effectively follow God in the new year by running with the prophecies we’ve received?

1. Remember and Document the Prophecies.

‭‭I Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭
New King James Version
14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.
15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.

Prophecies are blueprints for your life, to run with them, you must first make them a part of your consciousness. In this text, Apostle Paul admonishes Timothy not to forget and neglect all that he has received. And this extends to us; we must be conscious of all the words, instructions and graces we have received.

Write them down in a journal, notebook, or sticky note: somewhere accessible so you can revisit them regularly.

Make it a habit to review these prophecies monthly. Set aside time to reflect on what has been fulfilled, check off completed items, and identify what remains to be done. Ponder on all God has said concerning you until it becomes a reality in your life: stay on those words, letting them shape your thoughts, decisions, and actions.

This process keeps you focused and aligned with God’s promises.

2. Pray over prophecies.

Prayer! Prayer is one very important way to act on what God has spoken over you and deposited in you through men of God and the Spirit.

One very good example of this is Jesus. Prophecy had gone forth and ahead of him but he still prayed.

Matthew 26:39, 42, 44
New King James Version
39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.”
44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

Prophecy had gone ahead of Jesus years before but still scripture is replete with places where he secluded himself to pray long. And at gethsemane, just before his crucifixion, he drew strength from the place of prayer.

By praying, you can keep in your remembrance all you have received but not only that, prayer positions you to fulfil prophecy. In the place of prayer, you can receive strength insights and wisdom on how to go about all you have received.

3. Believe the Words You’ve Received.

Genesis 15:5-6
New King James Version
5 Then He brought him outside and said, ‘Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.’ And He said to him, ‘So shall your descendants be.’
6 And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

Abraham trusted God, even when the promise seemed unlikely. Likewise, the fulfilment of prophecy begins with belief. Without faith, it is impossible to act on God’s word.

As you enter the new year, trust the words God has spoken over your life, and keep believing, even if circumstances seem contrary. Do not lose hope, relent in your faith or limit God.

Jeremiah 1:7
New King James Version
7 But the Lord said to me: ‘Do not say, “I am a youth,” for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.

God corrected the perception Jeremiah had of himself and reminded him to see himself as He saw him. You must align your view of yourself with God’s vision for your life. If He calls you a leader, a builder, or a carrier of His glory, believe it wholeheartedly. Refuse to shrink back into old limitations. Let His word redefine your potential and capacity.

Don’t limit God!

Joshua 21:45
New King James Version
45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

God has never given a word that came back void. Every single word or prophecy he has given would come to pass.

4. Start Doing!

It doesn’t just stop at receiving and praying on the word. You need to begin acting on all you received. you cannot slack, you cannot procrastinate like you did last year. If you really want to see prophecies fulfilled, you need to start, and start now.

James‬ ‭1‬:‭22‬-‭25‬ ‭
New King James Version
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;
24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

Although this text refers to the written Word of God, we can learn from it that the most important action is to start doing now!

It says anyone that hears the word and doesn’t do what he hears is deceiving themself.

You don’t need to wait for the new year to begin before acting on the words and instructions that you have gotten. God has commissioned us into a new year at the camp meeting so begin to stir up and do all you have received from today.

As you prepare for the new year, commit to more than just hearing God’s word, determine to act on it.

Prophecies are divine invitations to partner with God’s will for your life. Believe them, pray over them, act on them, and rejoice in them. This is how you follow God into the new year and experience the fulfilment of His plans for your life.

Remember, God’s Word is not a probability but a certainty.

Run with it boldly, and you will see His promises come to pass.

Prayer Point
Father, thank You for this new year. I recognize and believe all you have deposited in me at the camp meeting. From now on, I spend time praying on all prophecies, graces, words and instructions I have received and I see them come to pass in my life. And it begins now!
