Preparation For Camp Meeting: Prayer and Fasting
Luke 5:16
It is officially camp meeting week and although we’ve been preparing, we can still go higher, expect more, hunger more and desire more because there are endless possibilities in God.
Remember, an encounter with God is sure to leave you changed like it was with Moses on the mount, Paul on the way to Damascus, and Jacob in Bethel. Your moment of complete transformation is here!
We have learned why we need special meetings and even what we stand to gain from special meetings. Amidst all these, we must also know how to receive all God has for us at special meetings.
Camp meeting is a time where God will deposit the graces we need to do His work, needs will be met, lives changed, but the extent of all of these depends largely on how prepared we are.
One of the most effective ways to prepare is through prayer and fasting. Prayer and fasting positions our hearts to be receptive to all that God is set to do.
When we fast, we mortify the flesh and its physical desires to amplify our focus on God. Fasting denies the flesh its pleasures and feeds your spirit man. In this we are able to consecrate ourselves better, aligns our hearts better and heighten our senses more to the supernatural.
Prayer is a non-negotiable. It creates an atmosphere for the Holy Spirit to work in us, refining, and preparing us for divine encounters.
Luke 5:16
New King James Version
16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.
Time and again in scriptures, we see that Jesus would retreat to pray before significant moments in His ministry. This is a prototype for what your life should encompass as a believer- that you take time to pray before special meetings.
Before the start of Jesus’ ministry, Jesus fasted for 40 days. The Bible records that he returned in the power of the Spirit (Matthew 4:1-11)
What practical steps can you take as you prepare for Camp meeting?
Set Expectations: You have to come to camp meeting with an expectant heart. Come with the mindset and conviction that God is set to do wonders, write down the things you desire and trust that they will be met and exceeded.
Luke 8:43-44
New King James Version
43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,
44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.
Just like the woman with the issue of blood, your expectations can cause the power of God to flow in your direction.
Another synoptic gospel records that she pressed through the crowd just to touch the hem of Jesus garment. This story proves that hunger is visible and palpable. No one would need to be convinced of your hunger. Are you truly expectant of your life being changed in the Christ life Camp Windsor 24?
Do you truly believe that there’s no distance in the spirit?
Prayer: As you prepare for camp meeting, do it prayerfully. Dedicate daily times to pray, asking God to prepare your heart, remove distractions, and increase your sensitivity to His Spirit. While you do this, pray over your expectations and trust the power of the Lord to move in your direction.
Fast: You must fast with purpose. When you fast, take it as an opportunity to remove every distraction. In this case, fasting from food might not be enough. Take away social media or anything that might have unintentionally become an idol in your life. Consecrate yourself as you fast towards Camp meeting.
This week, set your expectations if you have not, pray over them towards camp meeting, and take full advantage of this fasting season. God is set to do so much but how ready are you to receive? Prepare now so that you can come to camp meeting ready.
Prayer Point
Father, as I prepare for camp meeting, I surrender my heart to you. Help me remove every distraction and consecrate myself to you. My heart is ready to receive all you have in store for me.
