Preparation For Camp Meeting: Why We Gather

Ephesians 4:16

Imagine a bundle of coals in a fire. When they are together, the coals burn brightly, radiating warmth and light. But when one coal is set aside, it gradually cools and loses its glow.

However, when that cold coal is brought back into the pile, something remarkable happens: the shared heat of the other coals rekindles its flame, and it begins to burn brightly once again.

For these coals to stay ablaze, they need to be in the right atmosphere and conditions. For believers, special meetings like camp meeting is the right atmosphere and the right condition where our faith is reignited, strengthened, and able to shine brightly again.

Dear Believer, we are entering a special season—a kairos moment—where we will immerse ourselves in fasting, prayer, and the teaching of the Word. It’s a time to come together and burn brightly again.

You must understand that something deeply supernatural happens in this gathering. Like iron sharpens iron, our gathering can revive the weary and restore the lost.

It’s camp meeting season and I don’t want you to treat this like a general meeting or like other camp meetings. I need you to have a fresh perspective to what God is set to do with us. This is no ordinary congress, this is not a social event.

This is a structure set by God like divine sparks that reignite cold hearts, restore weary souls, and inspire us to continue on the path God has set before us.

Our gathering together like this has particular significance because of the supernatural relationship we share. When God’s family comes together in a place especially in a camp meeting such as this, there are endless possibilities. You were born into a family and you were never meant to walk this path alone.

Paul says it this way (NLT):

Ephesians 4:16
New Living Translation
16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

He says that when one does his work in the body, it helps the other parts grow. How else can we share this bond than in our gathering together. See examples in the Scriptures:

1 Samuel 10:9-10
New King James Version
9 So it was, when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, that God [a]gave him another heart; and all those signs came to pass that day. 10 When they came there to the hill, there was a group of prophets to meet him; then the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

Understand that Saul was already anointed in Samuel’s house. But the gift of the Spirit came alive in the company of prophets. Saul had journeyed alone after being anointed.

The Bible even says he received another heart but the manifestation of that anointing was first displayed in the company of other anointed men.

The gifts of the Spirit burst into expression from a man who had no clue about the supernatural, in a meeting.

Daniel 2:17-18
New International Version
17 Then Daniel returned to his house and explained the matter to his friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. 18 He urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

Daniel was in need of an answer to the King’s dream and he called his friends together to pray with Him. Why? Daniel could pray on his own. In fact, we see that he did many times but I believe that he must have also understood what agreeing together about a matter can do.

I tell you again, there is something deeply supernatural about our gathering together especially in camp meetings like this and you cannot take it lightly.

Romans 1:11-12
New King James Version
11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established—

12 that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

Paul the apostle of Christ who had preached to thousands knew that his meeting with believers would not just strengthen the people but would be of mutual benefit to him and them.

When we gather, we can be encouraged in our faith through one another. If anyone of us is struggling, there is something about being in the company of other believers that can ignite a spark in you, the joy and fervency of others can rub off on you.

We can edify one another, uplift one another and stir up one another onto good works. There is a rich refreshing that happens when we gather as family that we cannot get anywhere else.

Camp meetings are a special kind of experience where God can apply pressure on our hearts about His plan, where he is in the room to flow and open our minds to more.

They are special retreat times that God uses to put us back into form, stir up deep hunger in us again and you cannot miss out on it.

When God calls for a meeting such as this one you can be sure that you won’t recover from it soon. In this camp meeting here are some things that you would surely experience:

1. Indoctrination:
Expectant the transformative power of the Word of God.

Psalm 119:130
New King James Version
130 The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

The word of God would be taught at length with accuracy and power. Our hearts must be open enough for the light of the Word to penetrate through.

2. Rejuvenation:
Rejuvenation denotes a refreshing, it means a restoration. It means to be brought to life again. In camp meeting expect that as we pray and fellowship together, the power of God would be touching every life, restoring all that was lost and bringing back to life everything that was dead.

3. Harvest:
In Camp meeting expect a harvest of souls and also more capacity to fulfil the great commission. God would be stirring our hearts to remember purpose. He would awaken in us a desire to see the earth filled with the knowledge of his will. God would be mobilizing men and it would be like fire shot up in our bones.

4. Rejoicing:
Rejoicing would be an effect of the outpouring of the Spirit. Just like the day of Pentecost, we can expect a revival fire pour on us and this would birth a rejoicing for what God is set to do through us.

Therefore brethren, as we prepare for camp meeting, keep in mind that this is the gathering of God’s family with whom you share a deep spiritual bond. In this gathering, we don’t just expect to receive but also to dispense to each other according to our individual needs.

There is a deep spiritual atmosphere every time we gather that can birth in us tremendous results . Hence, I urge you to be like Jacob and tell the Lord, “I wouldn’t let you go until you bless me”.

Thank God for other camp meetings and the rich experiences we had in them but there is more I tell you and God is ready. The question is, “Are you ready?”

Prayer Point
Father as I pray now I ready myself to be for a rich experience in the company of the brethren. I’m ready to be re-ignited and refreshed, set ablaze for all you would have me do.
