Imagine you got the opportunity to meet with the most successful business tycoon in your country. Because of how monumental this meeting could be for you if things work out well, you would probably utilize every resource you have available to make sure you get the best possible outcome from that meeting.

The same thing goes for spiritual meetings. God has a called a meeting and is prepared with you, but are you ready to meet with him? The Bible tells us:

Acts 3:19
New King James Version
19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord

This is something every believer has access to. It’s not just for apostles and pastors alone but for everyone that their sins have been blotted out. That is, for any man in Christ, for everyone that has believed in his gospel. He said we would receive times of refreshing.

One of the ways you can easily experience these times of refreshing is through special meetings and gatherings of the church.

At these meetings, you can always anticipate a mighty flow of the power of God when we gather. At these meetings we see miracles, prophecies given, souls won and many more. These meeting can impact the believers life in a way that is unimaginable, and like everything that is important in your life, you should desire to prepare adequately for it.

Genesis 28:12, 16
New King James Version
12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.”

Here, Jacob had an encounter with God and his response was that God was there and he did not know it. You should not be like Jacob. You know that God is set to meet you so you should prepare for it.

The importance of meetings like this can not be over emphasized. God called this camp meeting and is ready to meet with you. If you are attending a meeting that God called for, you must prepare for what God is about to do and be sensitive.

One of the ways you can heighten sensitivity and prepare for all that the Lord is set to do is by praying.

Acts 2:1-3
New King James Version
1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

On the Day of Pentecost, the disciples were gathered “in one accord in one place,” when the Holy Spirit came upon them like a rushing mighty wind, filling the room and resting on each of them like tongues of fire. Prior to this, Jesus had told them to wait for the promised Holy Spirit and they did not simply wait doing nothing. They were praying.

Acts 1:13-14
New King James Version
13 And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James.

14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

The Bible says that the disciples had been continuously praying together in the upper room after Jesus told them to wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit. God had promised them something and there weren’t sitting around waiting for it to happen. They responded by praying. Not just one or two times till they received what God had promised them.

God wants to equip you for more in this meeting, but you must be expectant to receive it and prayer can help you stay expectant.

Praying towards a meeting like this will not only help you prepare but it will also keep you sensitive. Prayer prepares your heart and sets it in the right posture for all that God is set to do.

Even if you feel cold and you lack sensitivity, what prayer does is that it stirs your heart up to sensitivity and helps you prepare adequately.

As we prepare for this camp meeting, here are a few ways to pray:

  1. Pray for the meeting and all activities. This will keep you expectant and ready to receive.

  2. Pray for the ministers. This will help your heart maintain a posture of honor and hunger through each session.

  3. Pray for the plans. Ask that every detail of the meeting would align with God’s will and be executed smoothly.

  4. Pray for the attendees. Pray that everyone who comes would be open and ready to encounter God.

  5. Pray for Yourself. Ask God to prepare your own heart, making you sensitive and receptive to all that He is set to do and that nothing passes by your radar.

Prayer should not only happen at the meeting. We pray towards the meeting because it actively prepares us for all that God is ready to do.

Prayer Point
Father as I prepare for camp meeting, I pray that you prepare my heart to receive all you have for me.
