Having expectations can be likened to placing buckets out at the sight of clouds gathering. Just as the buckets are set out to catch the raindrops, setting the right expectations positions us to receive all that God has for us in a special meeting.

Luke 8:43-44
New King James Version
43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,

44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.

This text highlights the power of expectation in receiving from God. The woman with the issue of blood fought through a crowd just to touch Jesus’ garment. That is hunger. Her strong faith and expectation led to her healing. Her “hunger” drew out her healing from Christ. The power of God flowed in her direction.

Luke 7:7
New King James Version
7 Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.

Jesus was already close to the house of this centurion who sought the healing of his servant but he had so much faith that all he needed was for Jesus to say a word for his servant to be healed. This communicates a great level of expectation. He expected that at the word of Jesus, his servant would be made whole and he received it.

This shows you what is possible when your faith is channelled rightly. In both cases, they had no doubt that the power of God would be manifest even without direct contact or distance (in the case of the centurion) between the situation and Jesus.

God has a track record of meeting and exceeding expectations! He is a providential God who anticipates our needs even before we know that we need them. Knowing this is whom you are coming to meet. Your expectations should be through the roof!

‭Genesis 28:16-18
New King James Version
16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.”

17 And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”

18 Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it.

God was in the place where Jacob was and Jacob did not know it. You on the other hand are aware that God has called a meeting that would bless you and you are aware Gid wants to meet you. So you don’t have to be like Jacob. Your testimony should be God was in that place and I knew it, I expected it, I prepared for it and indeed I was changed by it!

When expectation and hunger meets the power of God, there are endless possibilities. Pursuit is the proof of desire. So if you really want to receive during a Camp meeting such as this, it will show in your sensitivity and how properly you take this time of preparation.

Set your expectations, write them down, believe that they would surely be met and exceeded. We know now the importance of prayer in preparation for a meeting so it is important that we pray over our expectations. In prayer you can build faith.

‭Mark 11:24
New King James Version
24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

As we continue to prepare towards camp meeting, do so with intentionality and believe that what you have asked, you shall receive in line with the plans of God for your life. If you have not set your expectations, do so today. Be intentional about it.

If it means buying a notepad specifically for this cause, pasting them on your mirror or setting an alarm everyday to remind yourself to pray specifically on those expectations, then do it. Let your hunger begin to rise and let it show in your preparation.

Prayer Point
I pray that my heart is ready, my mind is alert, hunger is stirred up within me like never before and I am ready to receive all you have for me at camp meeting.
