GO: UNASHAMED
Jeremiah 32:6-7
Have you ever asked for information from someone whose words you trusted so deeply that you could confidently take them to the bank? Imagine sitting one-on-one with a role model of yours who wants to guide you on an endeavor you’re pursuing.
You would probably take notes and act on them as soon as possible. Regardless of how the instructions appear, you would likely want to follow them the way this person advised because of their integrity, influence, and proven track record. Even if people discourage you, you would likely trust the words of that person above all others.
This is the same way over the last couple of days, God called a meeting with us and our lead Pastor led us in 7 Days of Glory. In this meeting, we received visions of God, we received step-by-step instructions on what he would have us do.
The big question is whether you would pursue the things He has told you with boldness, despite any odds. Would you act as though it was the Almighty God who gave you those visions and pursue them unashamedly?
One of the most important things we can learn from the character and disposition of the men who walked with God throughout scripture is the boldness with which they pursued the visions he gave them, they did things God asked them to do unashamedly.
We could see that they were unashamed in their devotion to his service; even in the face of opposition or severe ordeals, they continued to boldly serve the LORD. This must become you in this season.
Take, for example, Prophet Jeremiah,
Jeremiah 32:6-7
New King James Version
6 And Jeremiah said, “The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
7 ‘Behold, Hanamel the son of Shallum your uncle will come to you, saying, “Buy my field which is in Anathoth, for the right of redemption is yours to buy it.”‘
Jeremiah was in prison at the time when Jerusalem had been besieged by Babylon, and the LORD then began to instruct him to buy his field in the same land that had been besieged by Babylon. You might naturally ask why would God be instructing him to do that at a time like this, verse 15 answers your question
Jeremiah 32:14-15
New King James Version
14 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “Take these deeds, both this purchase deed which is sealed and this deed which is open, and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may last many days.”
15 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.”‘
The deeds spoken about here are the receipts of the payment Jeremiah had made to obey God’s instruction to buy the field. Now, God told him to store those deeds, because there would come a time that the houses and fields shall be possessed by Israel again in that land.
The children of Israel had provoked the anger of God, by their persistent rebellion, and God allowed them to be delivered into the hands of the Chaldeans, but this wasn’t the end of the story, God wanted to restore them to himself
Jeremiah 32:37-38
New King James Version
37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely.
38 They shall be My people, and I will be their God;
He said he would gather them out of those lands and bring them back to that same land of their fathers, and there he would prosper them, they would be his people and he would be their God.
Why is this important? Jeremiah responded to the word of the LORD immediately as it came, and he bought the fields! To the natural man, you might think this is insane, you might think this man has misplaced priorities, and you would be asking why is he not more concerned about getting out of prison, but there’s something very important to learn from him.
Jeremiah wasn’t thinking self-preservation, he wasn’t considering his current situation in prison, he was responding to the word that God has spoken to him and he bought the fields! To him pursuing the vision of God was of greater importance and priority than what the repercussions could be.
This event teaches us that, repercussions are not the first thing you should want to consider before you GO! Act on the word of God and do it boldly.
Another great example is Noah
Genesis 7:4-5
New King James Version
4 For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.”
5 And Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him.
Genesis 6:14
New King James Version
14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.
You can imagine for Noah, that in a time where the world has never even experienced a natural disaster, like a flood, God told him to prepare for one and to build an Ark, how would people have looked at him? How would people have reacted if he told them? But scripture says that he did according to all that God has commanded him.
You can imagine for years he kept building an ark for a weather phenomenon that no one even understands or can even picture what it would even look like, people would have looked at him like he was out of his mind, but that didn’t prevent him from being fixated on the assignment of God.
Even the Lord Jesus,
Hebrews 12:2
New King James Version
2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
He despised the shame but he endured it because of what had been set ahead of him. If there is anyone to take an example from, who better than Jesus? He kept his eyes fixed on the will of God, not on the shame of the cross.
For many of you, God touched your eyes to see his plans for your life in the years to come, but the truth is you cannot do much for God if you don’t learn to step out with boldness. If you don’t learn to be unashamed about your commitment to things of God.
Daunting and discouraging situations would come. Well-meaning friends may discourage you telling you that you’re doing too much, but like Jesus, you must set your gaze on the joy that is set ahead of you. Like Jeremiah, you must buy the fields and ignore whatever the consequences may be. Like Noah, you must do everything according to how the LORD had instructed you, you must become unashamed because you’re serving a cause much greater than what this world could even imagine. You must reckon that your life is to be lived for his glory
2 Corinthians 5:13-14
New King James Version
13 For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you.
14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;
This was the mind of the apostles towards their service to God. That if they were beside themselves, that is if they behaved as though they were mad, it was for God. He says that the love of Christ compels us to judge that if one died then all have died.
Galatians 2:20
New King James Version
20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Paul reckons that his life is no longer his and his entire life he lives by faith in the son of God. Everything he does, he does for the LORD. Every time he faces hardship for the sake of Christ, he endures it for the LORD.
We must get to a place where everything we do is from a consciousness that we are living our lives unto God, unto his glory, and for this reason, we must do it unashamed. The sacrifices and sufferings that we may face won’t match the glory that will be revealed when the Lord returns.
God wants us to get to a place where we are all devoted to his plans. He wants us to buy the fields and be ready for more. To not shake at the slightest inconvenience but to stay head-on, to stay aligned, to walk boldly in his plans for us. This is the year to unashamedly follow God. This is to do everything he has asked you to do boldly.
Prayer Point: Father! As I pray now, I declare that I give myself wholly to all you’ve called me to, I become more sold out to your cause, I am unashamed of my calling in God and I continue to passionately serve all the visions of God all my life.
