Prayer & Fasting: Day 2
1 Thessalonians 5:17
There are moments when you wake up from a powerful dream, your heart still racing, the weight of it still lingering, but as the morning unfolds and routine sets in, that once vivid dream begins to fade. The emotions remain, but the details slip away, swallowed by the noise of the day.
Likewise, after spiritual meetings and glorious encounters, it may seem as though the experience is beginning to fade, not because what you encountered wasn’t real, but because you are no longer aware.
In times of retreat or during special meetings, when you tune out the noise of the world, it becomes easier to focus on God, to have divine encounters, and to be truly transformed. Indeed, it is easier to stay sensitive in a room full of prayer. But afterwards, when you return to your daily routines and distractions set in, it may feel like those things you received are being drowned out by everything else happening in your life.
But today, God’s word to you is this: remain conscious.
What an encounter we had in Shekinah Windsor! But God is not done yet,we are still in the Shekinah season. So remain conscious. Stay alert!
Indeed, you were changed and transformed at Shekinah Windsor. Don’t let the noise of the world convince you otherwise. But even more so now, as Shekinah Lagos is fast approaching, stay sensitive.
Scripture says in John 14:17 (NKJV):
17 The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
The presence is not limited to a particular place or a particular season. The presence is within you. You carry a holy atmosphere, the very Spirit of God.
So the question is no longer, “Is He here?” The real question is: “Am I still aware?”
Dear believer, do not limit that experience or that encounter to the campground. God is still speaking. God is still changing lives. Do not wait till Shekinah Lagos. In this season, ask yourself: Am I sensitive? Am I alert? Am I conscious?
One way to remain conscious is to keep to structures.
The early Church understood this.
Acts 2:42
New King James Version
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
One thing to note is they had received the Holy Spirit. They had the tongues-of-fire encounter. Yet, they kept to structures. They didn’t treat the encounter as a memory to celebrate; they treated it as a reality to sustain. As a result, even as they continued their daily lives, they remained sensitive and discerning to the Spirit. They didn’t maintain the fire through emotional highs; they built structures around it. They scheduled prayer. They paused to listen. They lived like God was still speaking, because He was. And it’s the same with you. God is still speaking. He is always speaking. But are you paying attention?
Or are you waiting for another “wow” moment to encounter Him?
Scripture says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17:
17 Pray without ceasing.
Just as you breathe without ceasing, be in constant connection with God. Even when your schedule is full, even when you have deadlines or exams, stay connected. Because even in the seemingly ordinary things you do, you can still have an encounter.
God can give you answers even before Shekinah Lagos. But will you hear Him? Or will you be caught up in the noise of the world and miss out?
It may not always be a “spectacular” moment, it may not be loud, it may just be quiet but yet life transforming, so stay alert even from now, because God is already working, and He is already speaking.
The real question is: Are you paying enough attention to hear?
Prayer Point
Father, help me to be conscious even in this season. Open my ears to hear You speak. Open my eyes to see. May I not miss out on anything You have for me.
