Our Pastor

Pastor Michael Ipaye

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, I am the first of three children in a small Christian family. Upon entering the university in 2014, I had a fresh and deepened conviction in my walk with Christ, sparking a fervent walk with God that lasted throughout my university years and beyond. Although I had known about Christ since childhood, my conviction deepened during this period, prompting me to seek a deeper relationship with God through prayer and the study of his word. With the help of my pastor and local assembly, I began to lay the groundwork for God's call on my life, which would become clear before I graduated from the university. During my time at the university, I served in various roles within the church, including the choir and pastorate. It was there that I met my wife, Similoluwa, who was also a member of the choir. Following my university graduation, I worked in the software industry while faithfully serving in my local assembly. The Catalyst Community originated as a small discipleship group with only two members during my university days when I had an itinerant ministry. Its primary goal was to disciple individuals and assist them in finding a suitable local church to join. In the winter of 2020, during a camp meeting, I received a conviction to expand the small group, which had seen various members come and go, into a Fellowship that spread across different continents. Today, it has evolved into The Catalyst Church. On May 3, 2023, I was ordained by my spiritual father, Apostle Emmanuel Iren, and on September 3, 2023, we planted the first branch of the Catalyst Church in Windsor, Canada. In April 2023, I married Similoluwa, and together, we serve as shepherds over the Catalyst Church congregation. Serving as the Lead Pastor of the Catalyst Community has been a tremendous blessing to me, witnessing lives transformed through the word of God. I firmly believe in the unity of faith and in the message that Christ imparted to His disciples. With God's guidance, I hope to continue nurturing our church members in that message and to uphold the vision of Christ's church, which is to spread the Gospel and raise disciples in every nation across the world.

Doctrinal Statement

We have attempted to provide a concise and understandable summary of what we believe the Bible teaches. These are the kinds of things you’ll hear in sermons, cell groups, and other teaching settings. We would be delighted to speak with you if you require clarification on any of our beliefs.

Mankind

We believe that:

God created mankind, both male and female, in His own image and likeness, untainted by sin, with the purpose of divine fellowship. However, in the face of temptation by Satan, Adam made the choice to disobey God, ushering in the devastating consequences of sin, death, and condemnation for all of humanity.

As a result, every individual is inherently and by their own choices, fallen. They are separate from God, helpless, and liable to God’s righteous wrath. Consequently, all of humanity finds itself in desperate need of a Savior (Romans 1:18 and 32, and Romans 3:10-19.)

We hold a firm belief in:

The redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to the Scriptures, willingly gave His life as a substitutionary atonement for our sins. In essence, salvation is exclusively found in Jesus Christ. We believe that salvation is free and given to all as many as would believe and receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the cross stands as the solitary and complete payment for our sins. In this process of salvation, the Holy Spirit transforms each person into a new creation, declaring them righteous in the eyes of God, and guaranteeing their eternal adoption as a child of God.

This authentic faith is characterized by ongoing obedience and unwavering love for Jesus Christ, driving a life that earnestly seeks to glorify God and endure steadfastly until the end, as attested in passages like Romans 3:23-24 and 2 Corinthians 5:21.

We believe that:

All scripture is inspired by God (2 Tim 3:16) and while various authors penned these sacred texts in accordance with their unique writing styles and personalities, they were divinely inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit to accurately record God’s infallible words. We believe in the inerrancy of the Bible that scriptures are infallible and that the Bible is the final authority and standard for faith and practice. We believe that anyone attempting to study the Bible must first apply themselves to understanding its literal, historical and grammatical context first (what it meant to them) before then applying what they have learnt(what it means to us).

We hold steadfastly:

To the belief in the existence of the one living and true God, eternally enduring, as emphasized in John 17:3. This divine being exists in a state of perfect unity as a triune Godhead, comprised of three equally and entirely divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as articulated in Matthew 28:19-20.

Within this Godhead, each member, while carrying out distinct yet harmonious roles throughout redemptive history, shares the same intrinsic nature, attributes, and essence. They are equally deserving of the same reverence, glory, and obedience, as underscored in passages like John 1:1-4 and Acts 5:3-4.

We believe that:

When an individual places their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior, they are born into a family. The Bible uses the metaphor of a body where Christ is the head. This is the universal Church and believers are directed in scriptures to gather together in local congregations for various purposes, including worship, prayer, the teaching of God’s Word, fostering fellowship, engaging in service to the local church by utilizing their talents and spiritual gifts, evangelizing the world to fulfill the Great Commission.
(Ephesians 4:11) Christ has given men to be gifts to the church for the purpose of edification, leadership and guidance.

We firmly believe in:

And eagerly await the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. We hold to the doctrine of the bodily resurrection, affirming that both the saved and the lost will experience this divine event. Those who have rejected salvation will face a resurrection unto judgment and endure eternal wrath in the Lake of Fire. In stark contrast, the redeemed will be resurrected to experience eternal joy in the New Heaven and New Earth, where they will dwell in the glorious presence of God, as described in Hebrews 7:25-26 and Acts 1:3,9.
