If you have a treasure or something of great value that you could only always see in little pieces and parts, then suddenly someone steps in and has the ability to show you the full picture and everything that treasure really holds, will you follow that person? Will you be interested in looking into everything he says or does regarding it? Most likely! Well, this is what Jesus came to do.

Hebrews 1:1-3
New King James Version
[1] God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

[2] has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

[3] who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Once upon a time, in the Old Testament, God didn’t fully reveal Himself or the full intensity of His glory. He spoke to the people using the various prophets, in different scenarios, in different eras and times. But now, He has spoken to us by His Son, the express image of His person. So this text tells us that if we want to see God and know His thoughts, mind, and nature, we can look at Jesus and see Him. God revealed Himself through Jesus.

Colossians 1:15
New King James Version

[15] He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

The invisible God was made visible through Jesus. So when we look at the life of Jesus, we don’t just see another prophet, we see God personified. We see His nature, His character on full display; meaning if we are to walk in the way of God, we can follow how Christ lived His life. Christ is the standard for the life of every believer. This is why we say that, in Christ is not just a message to believe in but an example to emulate.

Through scriptures, we see how Jesus lived His life. He lived in total submission to the will of God, preaching and teaching the kingdom of God everywhere He went, serving humanity, and showing love to all. He healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out demons, and freed the oppressed everywhere He went; this is the life we have been called to. Through the Spirit of God and by His power, Jesus went about doing many miracles, and if you’ve been saved and you have that same Spirit living inside of you, you as well can walk in these miracles.

Luke 9:1-2
New King James Version

[1] Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

[2] He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

It wasn’t in the plan that Jesus would be the only One who could live a supernatural life, no. He gave His disciples power and authority to do the same, and in the next chapter He gave the seventy as well.

Mark 16:17-18
New King James Version

[17] “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

[18] they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Then during His ascension, He said that these signs shall follow ALL who believe in the gospel. When you believe in the gospel’s message, you become sealed with the same Spirit that Jesus had, you are able to walk with the same authority that Jesus had, you’re able to do the things that Jesus did; you’re able to heal sick, you’re able to raise the dead, you’re able to cast out demons, all to the glory of God.

It’s important to note that when Jesus wrought miracles, they weren’t for personal gain or to show off, they were for the glory of God and to point the people to the message of the kingdom.

I Corinthians 14:24-25
New King James Version

[24] But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all.

[25] And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you.

So when we flow in the supernatural, unbelievers can be convicted because miracles point to God.

I Corinthians 12:7
New King James Version

[7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.

This is why Apostle Paul can admonish in 1 Corinthians that everyone should desire spiritual gifts. When you heal the sick, when you get a word of knowledge or wisdom, when you cast out demons, realize that it is for the profit of all. The gifts of the Spirit are not for personal gain, but to point to the message of the gospel to unbelievers and to edify the saints. So this is something you have been instructed to walk in. Remember, Jesus said, it is for all who believe. Once you believed in the gospel, you were sealed with the Spirit of God who has freely supplied His gifts to you. So cast out devils, heal the sick, freely you’ve received, freely should you give.

Prayer Point
Father, I declare that I emulate the example set for me by Christ. By the Spirit of God in me, I work miracles, I heal the sick, I cast out demons and I raise the dead, all to the glory of God.
