Charisma: Supply
Mark 16:17-18
Yesterday, we established that you are instructed to desire spiritual gifts. Not passively hope for them. Not wait for them to somehow fall on you, but desire them actively, intentionally, zealously. But today, we need to address something that’s holding many believers back, which is that you already have what you’re waiting for.
One thing you must realise is that the supply is not coming. It’s already here! The power is not on its way. It has already been given. The Holy Spirit is not something you’re trying to receive; He already lives in you. But are you using what you’ve already been given?
Many believers are sitting on a supply they don’t even realize they possess. They read about the miracles in the book of Acts and think, “That was for them. That was a different time.” But that’s not what Scripture says.
Mark 16:17-18
New King James Version
17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.
Pay attention, Jesus said these signs will follow those who believe. Not those who are super spiritual. Not those who have a special calling. Those who believe.
If you believe in Jesus Christ, you have access to this. So the question is, do you believe in Jesus? If so, then you can cast out demons, speak in tongues, lay hands on the sick and see them recover. This is what follows believers.
Look at what Scripture says about Jesus:
Acts 10:38
New King James Version
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil. All of them. And He did this because He was anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power. That same Spirit now lives in you. The same power that operated through Jesus has been deposited in you. And if that Spirit is in you, then why are you not doing what Jesus did?
This is not about comparing yourself to Jesus in a way that makes you feel inadequate. This is about recognizing what you carry. You have the same Spirit. You have access to the same power. The only difference is whether you’re conscious of it and whether you’re using it.
After Jesus ascended and the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, the disciples didn’t sit around waiting for another experience. They immediately went out and did what Jesus had done.
Peter and John were going to the temple to pray when they encountered a man who had been lame from birth. This man was begging for money at the gate. And Peter could have walked past him. He could have given him a few coins and kept moving. But Peter understood what he carried.
Acts 3:6-8
New King James Version
6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 So he leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.
The man was healed instantly. His feet and ankles received strength, and he walked, leapt, and praised God. This is what happens when believers operate in the supply they’ve been given. And if you’re not seeing this kind of thing in your life, it’s not because you don’t have the same Spirit Peter had. It’s because you’re not using what you have.
Paul operated the same way. In Philippi, a girl with a spirit of divination followed him and his team for days, shouting about them. Paul could have ignored her. He could have told himself it wasn’t his problem. But he didn’t.
Acts 16:18
New King James Version
18 And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour.
This is the normal Christian life. So this should be YOUR life. This is what believers do when they understand the supply they carry. Why aren’t more believers operating like this today? It’s not that they lack the authority. It’s not that the Spirit has changed. The issue is that most believers are not conscious of what they have.
You have been given the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. The same power that healed the sick, cast out demons, opened blind eyes, and raised the dead is available to you. But if you don’t believe, if you’re not convinced that God has actually given you access to His power, you’ll keep living like you’re powerless. You will keep living below your full potential, and the people around you will suffer because of it.
You’ll stand in front of someone who’s sick and offer nothing but sympathy. You’ll encounter someone who’s oppressed by the devil and tell them to see a pastor. You’ll see people in crisis and have nothing to give them beyond natural advice. And all the while, you’re carrying a supply that could meet their need.
Maybe you’ve tried before, and it didn’t work. You prayed for someone to be healed, and nothing happened. You tried to give a word, and it felt awkward. You stepped out, and it seemed like you failed. So you stopped. You convinced yourself that maybe the gifts aren’t for you. Maybe you’re not anointed like other people. Maybe God doesn’t work through you that way. But that’s a lie straight from the enemy. The problem was never that you didn’t have the power. The problem is that you gave up too soon.
Go again. You prayed for someone, and they weren’t healed? Pray for someone else. Your prophecy felt awkward? Prophesy again. Your word of knowledge seemed off? Ask God to sharpen your sensitivity and step out again.
You don’t stop driving because you had an accident. You don’t stop cooking because you burned a meal. So why would you stop operating in the gifts of the Spirit because it didn’t go perfectly the first time? The gifts of the Spirit are not something you master overnight. They require you to stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit. They require you to keep stepping out even when it’s uncomfortable. The more you use them, the more natural they become.
So this week, put into practice what you’ve been given. Stop waiting for the perfect opportunity. Stop waiting to feel more spiritual. Stop waiting for someone to give you permission. Give a word of knowledge to someone. Prophesy. Pray for the sick. Cast out demons. Use the gifts God has placed in you every day. Wherever you go, you carry a supply that people desperately need. Stop sitting on what you’ve been given. Use it.
Prayer Point
Father, I thank You for the supply of Your Spirit living in me. I step into situations and conditions, and with the authority I have, I cause a change.
