As we go about our daily lives—in the marketplaces, in universities, and in offices, we encounter countless souls whom God longs to reach through us. When you board a danfo or sit in a restaurant, do you see mere strangers, or do you recognize opportunities to speak about God?

Every transaction, every greeting, every shared moment in traffic—these are not mere coincidences, but opportunities divinely arranged for Kingdom purpose. The question is: Are we seeing the world through God’s eyes?

‭‭Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬
New King James Version‬‬

8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Just before His ascension, Jesus spoke these words to His disciples, who had been devoted followers throughout His earthly ministry and were well-versed in doctrine. Despite their understanding of God’s Word, Christ assured them that they would receive power to be witnesses. This power wasn’t primarily for their personal benefit, but for a greater purpose; to reach the nations with the message of salvation.

This is the heart behind “Duniya” (the world)—God’s passionate desire to reach every nation, tribe, and tongue through faithful witnesses who will carry His message of salvation to the ends of the earth.

As witnesses of Christ, the disciples wholeheartedly embraced their calling, dedicating themselves to spreading the message of His death, burial, and resurrection. They recognized the significance of their testimony and took it upon themselves to ensure that the Good News was proclaimed to all, fulfilling the mission entrusted to them by Jesus. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, they boldly preached, unwavering in their commitment to sharing the hope of salvation with the world.

This mission wasn’t unique to the first disciples but extends to all believers. We too have been entrusted with a sacred responsibility, which Paul describes in:

2 Corinthians 5:18
‭New King James Version‬‬

18 “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.”

This ministry of reconciliation addresses our fundamental human condition. It is a fact that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Because of our sinful nature from birth, we owed a debt that we could never pay. But out of His deep love for us, Jesus came on the scene and paid our heavy debt by dying on the cross. He died our death so that we might live for Him.

Now, this begs the question: What would Jesus have us do with the life He has given us? The answer is simple—we are to tell the world the good news of what He has done so they can come to the knowledge of Him! This is the essence of our witness, our testimony to the nations.

God by himself won’t come and preach the message by himself. He has chosen human vessels to carry His message of salvation. As His witnesses, we are called to spread His love and truth to all people, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to know Him and receive the gift of eternal life.

Throughout history, this has been God’s pattern—working through individuals to reach the world. In scripture, we see powerful examples of people who God used to reach nations. Throughout human history, God has consistently used individuals to carry out His plan of redemption and to impact generations.

Consider Abraham, at the very beginning of God’s redemptive story:

Genesis‬ ‭12‬:‭1-3‬
New King James Version‬‬

1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.

‭2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.

3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

God called Abraham to leave his homeland and follow Him, promising that through him, all nations would be blessed. Abraham’s faith and obedience set in motion God’s redemptive plan, leading to the coming of Jesus Christ. His willingness to trust God’s promises impacted not only his immediate descendants but all people, as through his lineage came the Saviour of the world.

Centuries later, God strategically positioned Daniel in a foreign land to influence an entire empire:

Daniel 6: 25-26
New King James Version‬‬

25 Then King Darius wrote: To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.

26 I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, And His dominion shall endure to the end.‭‭

Daniel was taken as a captive to Babylon, yet God positioned him in the king’s court to influence an entire empire. His faithfulness and commitment to God, even in the face of persecution, demonstrated God’s power and sovereignty. Through Daniel, even kings acknowledged the greatness of God, and his witness reached “all peoples, nations, and languages” through the king’s decree.

Then in the New Testament, we see how God transformed a persecutor into a powerful apostle:

Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬
New King James Version‬‬

16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”

Paul, once a persecutor of Christians, encountered Jesus and was transformed into one of the greatest missionaries of all time. Through Paul’s ministry, churches were planted, letters were written that continue to guide believers today, and the message of Jesus spread across continents. His testimony demonstrates how God can use anyone—even former enemies of the faith—to advance His kingdom.

These examples reveal a consistent pattern in God’s redemptive work. They remind us that God calls and equips individuals to be His witnesses, using their obedience to impact countless lives for generations to come. Likewise, He has placed each of us strategically in families, workplaces, and communities to fulfil His divine purpose.

God is still using people today to reach the nations. You are part of God’s generational plan. Where He has placed you is no accident. Just as He used Abraham, Daniel, and Paul, He wants to use you to bring His message of salvation to those around you.

This understanding should prompt self-reflection: Where has God placed me to be a witness? Who in my life needs to hear the Gospel? Am I embracing my role in fulfilling the Great Commission?

As believers, our purpose is to know God and make Him known. This means that after knowing God, we ought to make efforts to let others know about Him too. Our testimony—our witness—can make an eternal difference in the lives of those around us who still need to hear the Good News.

Prayer point
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of the Gospel. Fill me with boldness and wisdom to share this message of salvation with everyone I encounter. Help me to be a faithful witness, spreading Your love and truth to those around me.
