Faith: Tenacious Faith
Luke 22:42
Think of a mountain climber gripping tightly to the side of a cliff, feet slipping on loose rocks, wind howling. There’s no visibility, no sense of the summit ahead, only the voice of the guide in the earpiece saying, “Trust me. Keep climbing.” That is often what faith looks like. You don’t see the end. You don’t understand the process. But you keep obeying the last instruction because you trust the One who called you.
Faith is believing even in an environment of contradiction. It will always be tenacious, no matter the circumstance.
Yesterday, we examined the faith that endures, faith that stays rooted even in delays and storms. But faith is not passive endurance alone. Faith also moves. It obeys. It acts when God speaks. And in doing so, it proves its authenticity.
Hebrews 11:8
New King James Version
8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
This verse shows us something powerful. Abraham’s obedience wasn’t a delayed response. He did not ask God to explain the entire journey or demand to know every detail of the land he was going to. Instead, the moment God called, Abraham went. That is what true faithfulness looks like. It is obedience that does not depend on full understanding. Faith doesn’t wait for conditions to be convenient or for clarity to be perfect. It obeys simply because God has spoken.
Genesis 12:1
New King James Version
1 Then the Lord said to Abram, “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.”
God didn’t give Abraham a five-step plan or a detailed map. He simply gave an instruction and attached a promise to it. The uncertainty of the destination didn’t stop Abraham’s response. He trusted the character of the One speaking more than the clarity of the command. God said, “to a land that I will show you.” That meant Abraham would only know more after he moved. This is also faith. It is moving in obedience even when the destination is still a mystery. It’s about leaving comfort zones behind for the sake of God’s will.
Luke 22:42
New King James Version
42 Nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done.
This was Jesus’ prayer in Gethsemane. He knew what the Father willed, but it wasn’t easy. Still, He obeyed. This teaches us that obedience isn’t always painless or emotionally pleasant. Sometimes, your flesh will resist and your soul will wrestle. But when you yield and say yes to God’s will, even with trembling, that is faith. Obedience is proof of faith.
We can walk in this. We can learn to keep our hearts open before God in prayer, not just to speak, but to hear. It means writing down what God has instructed and reviewing it often, not letting the passage of time wash away what heaven has commanded. It means building accountability, talking to spiritual leaders or trusted believers who can walk with you and hold you to the things God has said. It looks like adjusting your calendar, budget, conversations, and boundaries around the Word of the Lord. Trusting God may also mean confronting pride, humbling yourself, repenting when you’ve delayed, and deciding to move forward immediately.
Faith is about posture. A heart that is bent toward obedience is one that God can trust with more. A life that practices faithfulness becomes fertile ground for greater assignments.
James 4:17
New King James Version
17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
The bar here is raised. It’s not just about avoiding wrong. Faithfulness also means doing the right you already know. If God has told you to do something and you ignore or postpone it, Scripture calls it sin. This tells us that obedience is not optional or secondary. It is central to the believer’s life. We don’t need more confirmations when we already have clear instructions. Faithfulness is doing what’s right even when it’s costly, inconvenient, or unpopular. It means taking action with urgency and conviction.
Live a life of faith that obeys. Let your trust in God be proven in your actions. If you believe, then respond. If you have heard, then move. Do not let the weight of contradiction silence your “yes.” Let heaven recognize you as one who does not delay, hesitate, or negotiate when God speaks. Let your faith be visible, not only in public performance, but in private surrender.
Prayer Point
I declare that faith rises within me. For every instruction that the Lord has given me, I follow through. I am obedient to the leadings of God. I trust in Him with all my heart.
