When we gather together as believers for a meeting God has called, we are not just assembling as individuals; we are coming together as a collective body, each carrying the fire of God’s Spirit within us.

1 Corinthians 6:19
New Kings James Version
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

This text tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and the emblem of God’s Spirit in us is fire. Now, imagine the intensity of God’s presence when we gather, each one of us stirring up the fire within.

The capability of this fire is seen in:

1 Kings 18:38
New King James Version
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.

In earlier text, Elijah had told them to pour 12 gallons of water on the wood, and scripture makes sure to highlight that water was flowing from the altar. That’s how wet it was.

Using a natural fire mindset, when gallons of water are poured on wood, with no other material that starts a fire present, it’s impossible to light a fire on it and have any effect. But in this text, Elijah called down fire from heaven, and it licked off every drop of water on the altar, setting it ablaze.

This is what the fire in us is capable of doing. Licking off every inconsistency. Setting us ablaze not only for the time being but for a long period of time.

2 Timothy 1:6
New King James Version
6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

What does stir up in this context mean? It is the Greek word anazoporio. It’s made up of three words:

ANA – prefix to show intensity
Zōon – living thing and
Pur – Fire

Literally means to set a living thing on fire. It means to kindle, to set aflame, to set ablaze.

When we gather as people with the fire of God dwelling in us, we are intentionally fanning to flames. Through long hours of prayer, worship, and fellowship, we are consciously adding more material, increasing the fire till we explode.

You know how a natural fire starts — it usually starts small. A spark, a tiny flame. On its own, it may not look like much. But when that fire comes in contact with something highly flammable, like fuel, the flame grows rapidly. It intensifies. It spreads.

In the same way, as believers, we have something in us that is highly combustible.

Now imagine this: if one believer alone carries fire and can see impact fanning to flames, what happens when two, three, or more believers gather to actively fan that fire to flames?

Just like combining flammable materials in a fire, the heat and intensity multiplies. The spiritual atmosphere shifts. Altars are set ablaze. Men are built. Hearts are repositioned.  Miracles happen. Chains break loose.

See what happened to the people in the upper room after receiving the emblem of the Spirit.

Acts 2:2-4
New King James Version
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

In later text from 14-39, Peter stood up with boldness and preached the gospel of Christ.

See the result in Acts 2:41-42
New King James Version
41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

The fire that Peter and the other Apostles received gave them boldness, not only to preach the gospel there but to also go into cities and take them for Jesus. They were forever inclined to fulfilling purpose. They died in Purpose.

IMPACT OF STIRRED UP FIRE
1. Consume inconsistencies: Just as the fire on Elijah’s altar licked off every drop of water, the fire of God within us can consume every inconsistency, set us ablaze till our heart is conditioned to purpose. We become more effective in line with God’s plan and purpose for us.

2. Life Long burning: This fire, just like God told Moses in Leviticus 6 vs 12, is not one that should be put off. It’s one that should be constantly burning.

This meeting will be birthing in us an intense zeal for God. We would become men set ablaze with a fire that cannot be put out. We would become men whose hearts will burn in line with God’s purpose. I hope you are ready?

Prayer Point
Lord, as I prepare for Shekinah, I open my heart to the possibilities of what the Fire in me is capable of. In those days of fellowship, I actively fan to flames so that you make of me the man you would have me be.
