Gush 3

Gush 3

1 Corinthians 14:15

Is there a Gush yet?
Are we getting there?
This is my third letter to you, and as your anticipation builds, I want you to cultivate your expectation like a well, ready to receive what you are birthing in this season.

There is about to be an overflow, accompanied by the abundance of rain and the bursting forth of springs of living waters. They would be revealed in the form of joy, ministerial assignments, miracles, fervency, clarity, leading, and direction.
Are you ready for it? Because we are in the middle of it. Glory!!!!!!!

At the beginning of this special season of prayer and fasting, I told you what our goal was.
And it was to see every one of you reach a height in the spirit of corporate prayers that would cause a domino effect in your devotions to God and to raise your fervency level to a height of sustenance that would leave you burning consistently moving forward. The goal is to help you reach a stage in your walk with God where your burning desire would be the secret place, equipping you to navigate your prayer journey with confidence.

Taking a letter approach I coined from the Apostle Paul, I am writing my third letter to you.

We have established that we have all we need for life and Godliness and that a well of water was created in us in salvation. We have also established that we can stir up the well, and this is a metaphor for being filled with the Spirit.

But today I want to emphasize the expected results.
I don’t know if you are already seeing them.
Well if not today you will.

John 7:37-39

New King James Version

37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Today I want to speak about a Gush!! The expected result of stirring up that river in you.

Ephesians 5:18

New King James Version

18 And do not be drunk with wine, which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit;

The scripture talks about being filled with the spirit in comparison to being drunk with wine. And he tells us what to do to be filled as well as the results of being filled.

The word “to be filled” is from the word pleres which means to abound, to make something fully occupied. So it’s an outflow on the inside of the believer that gives expression to the indwelling of the spirit.

So as you pray and stir it up, there is a result and that result is what I like to call a gush. As you continue to pray and stir up that potential power of the Holy Ghost, that potential well of the Spirit, you can make it kinetic and produce a result Paul refers to being filled with the Spirit.

You don’t give expression by doing nothing. You give expression by action. That’s how you are filled. By stirring up what’s already within you until it overflows, leading to endless possibilities. One effective method is singing in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs and this produces the manifestation of charismatic gifts by the Spirit, both for the edification of the church and for your edification.

Luke 1:41

New King James Version

41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

42 Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed in the fruit of your womb!

43 But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

44 For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”

She knew that Mary was pregnant because she was filled with the Holy Ghost. There was a Gush of the Prophetic. That’s going to be your reality today.

Acts 4:8

New King James Version

8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel:

Peter received a Gush of Boldness.

Acts 7:55

New King James Version

55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

Stephen saw a vision and that was because of the gush.

Ephesians 5:18-19

New King James Version

18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit;

19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

He says to speak to yourselves in psalms in hymns and in spiritual songs.
Some might think he is talking about the Psalms of David here but Apostle Paul could not have been referring you to the Psalms of David as hymns, why? Well because he talks about his teaching ministry in this way:

1 Corinthians 2:9

New King James Version

9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.

Paul lets you know that eyes and ears could not discern what he taught, therefore David did not know what he was explaining.

Ephesians 3:4

New King James Version

4 by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ),
‬‬
He talked about his writings, about how the things he wrote about were concealed in other ages. Meaning David did not know it.

So Paul could not have been telling a New Testament believer to birth the hymns of David from his spirit. Not that there is anything wrong with them but this one is different. They are spiritual truths with melodies. Supernaturally inspired words with melodies which he calls psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

1 Corinthians 14:15

New King James Version

15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.

This is another proof of that. He says “I will sing with the spirit and with the understanding”. Praying with the spirit is in contrast with praying with the understanding. When you pray with the spirit it is not with your understanding and the same with singing. So what do you think he was talking about? He tells us; that they are tongues with melody, and It’s a powerful way to begin your devotion.

So today rather than just speak in tongues, sing in tongues.
Not only that, birth psalms and hymns in your spirit to God.

Give full expression to the spirit.
Sometimes you want to pray and you don’t know how to go about it. If only you can sing in the spirit more, every other thing will flow. It’s from here that the many Catalyst songs come from. Your mood can not survive being down after experiencing such. Troubles do not stand a chance.

I might have been playing one moment but I know how to switch things up. And get myself edified.
This is edification on another level so practice it today!

Speaking in tongues and in your understanding,

Singing in tongues and in your understanding

It is both cause and effect of being filled with the spirit. To be filled you speak and when you are filled you speak.

Prayer Point:

As I pray today, I birth psalms and hymns in my Spirit. I speak and I sing to be filled and I speak and sing when I am filled. Throughout my day, I give the Spirit of God full expression in me.

Prayerfully,
Pastor Michael Ipaye.
