Gush 4
Luke 10:17-21
Dear Catalyst,
It’s time for an Overflow!!!!!! If you have prayed in the spirit, sang in the spirit, worshipped, and edified yourselves in these few days then I’m sure you are already seeing supernatural expressions.
Can you just rejoice wherever you are? Today I want to expound some more on that Gush.
The Bible says
Ephesians 5:18
New King James Version
18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
We emphasized that this refers to being filled with the Spirit. And the Apostle Paul makes that statement in comparison to being drunk with wine. And he tells us what to do to be filled as well as the results of being filled.
The word “to be filled” is from the word pleres which means to abound, to make something fully occupied. So it is an outflow on the inside of the believer that gives expression to the indwelling of the spirit. So as you pray and stir it up, there is a result and that result is what we call a gush.
As you sing in the spirit there is a result and that is a gush. As you fast and pray, there is a result and that is a gush. As you worship and study the word and listen to those sermons there is a result and that is a gush.
You see as believers there is a supernatural force in us and that is the power of the Holy Ghost and that power can be stirred up to a point of physical influence as the Apostle Paul says. That influence is the gush we are saying. Whatever you can be full of can also overflow. A Gush is an overflow. Are you ready for an overflow???
When you are filled it is obvious. When there is an overflow there is usually a physical expression. You can’t be full and people would not know.
Acts 9:17
New King James Version
17 And Ananias went his way and entered into the house; and laying his hands on him said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
After this meeting, it was so obvious in the ministry of Apostle Paul that he was filled.
Acts 13:8-10
New King James Version
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith.
9 Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him
10 and said, “O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord?
Two things are happening here. You see the Apostle Paul here is filled with the spirit and expressing the gift of discernment. Another thing we see here is that Elymas was FULL of something and it was obvious.- full of deceit.
Acts 19:28-29
New King James Version
28 Now when they heard this, they were full of wrath and cried out, saying, “Great is Diana of the Ephesians!”
29 So the whole city was filled with confusion, and rushed into the theater with one accord, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians, Paul’s travel companions.
It was obvious that they were full of something and that was wrath.
When a person is full of the spirit, the spirit within overflows upon them. And it is evident. One of the ways it is evident is in rejoicing. Rejoicing is one of the ways to let out what is stirred up on your inside. The Bible calls it Joy in the Holy Ghost.
Romans 14:17
New King James Version
17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Luke 10:17-21
New King James Version
17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.
Jesus Agalliao’ed. Permit my use of words. Agalliao means to spin for joy, to rejoice. This was the outcome of what he heard. He rejoiced in the spirit. So you can rejoice in the spirit. It is an outlet for the stirring in the spirit.
Joy Joy Joy Joy. The Irony of Gush is that everything that can cause a Gush is also what happens when there is a gush. You can rejoice to be filled and when you are filled you rejoice. So today, learn how to fill your devotion with Rejoicing!!! Rejoice in the Spirit right now.
Jesus didn’t care where he was or who was looking. He spun for Joy!!!
Stir up yourself with rejoicing. Rejoice in the lord as you anticipate fulfilled promises.
Rejoice in the spirit because you are full of expectation for what God will do in your life.
Today spend time rejoicing deliberately, let it flow in spiritual songs, in laughter etc. just give expression to the spirit.
Prayerfully,
Pastor Michael.
