If someone asked you right now, “What’s the most valuable thing in the world?” how would you answer? For some, it might be money or material possessions. Others might say it’s about achieving their dreams and ambitions. Some might even argue that time is the most precious thing we have. But in scripture, we see a different perspective on what is truly valuable.

Matthew 16:26
New King James Version

26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

According to Jesus, the whole world isn’t worth trading for a single person’s soul. The value of a man’s soul far exceeds the worth of the entire world. This means that on the scale of what is most valuable, God ranks the soul of men highest on that list.

1 Timothy 2:3
New King James Version

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

As believers, we must be ready to partner with God to see His desires fulfilled. How can souls be won? Think about their eternal destiny. What do they believe in? When they die, where will their destination be? This should spur you to a lifestyle of harvest, just like we see Jesus and the apostles live.

Mark 1:14
New King James Version

14 Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

Right after His baptism and time of fasting and praying in the wilderness, He went about preaching in the city. And not just in Galilee but everywhere He went.

Matthew 9:35
New King James Version

35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

He went about ALL cities and villages preaching and teaching the gospel of the kingdom. This was His predisposition and attitude toward souls and it showed in the way He lived His life. This is also how the apostles lived.

Acts 5:42
New King James Version

42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.

They didn’t cease in the temple, they didn’t cease in every house, they didn’t cease day in and day out preaching Jesus as the Christ. This is the attitude that made 11 men with a message able to spread it to the entire world, they were heavily kingdom-minded. These men had lives of their own, they had families, they had jobs, yet they lived their lives with the spread of the gospel as a major focus. Paul was a tentmaker, yet it didn’t stop him from doing ministry with all devotion.

This is the attitude you should have if the message is to keep spreading into every nook and cranny of the world. Yes, other aspects of your life will require your attention but you must understand and prioritize the importance of preaching the gospel. This is God’s desire, it’s His will.

2 Peter 3:9
New King James Version

9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

This has been His plan from the beginning and He has been faithful to it till the end. He has done it and we must announce it to all. So Jesus before His ascension left us with a mission, the great commission.

Matthew 28:18-20
New King James Version

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

You have been given the most important command of your life, to go into all nations and make disciples. This was given to every single one of us, and we must work towards this by ensuring to share the gospel with everyone we know and everywhere we go. The mandate God has given us must be a priority in our lives and we must value what our master values. This isn’t just a job for the pastors or ministry gifts, it is for everyone who believes. So it is for you to be part of God’s plan to have all of mankind saved.

Taking our example from the life of Jesus and the Apostles, we should be the same way. Let it be evident in the things you do and how you go about your life, that in all cities and villages, in towns and regions, in schools and markets, everywhere you are, you must preach the gospel of the kingdom. You have a part to play, God has done the work, and you have to announce it. You’re part of the harvest and you must act like it.

Prayer Point:
Father, I see my place in the harvest and I take it. I’m not just a hearer of the Word but also a doer, so I’m vocal about the gospel. Everywhere I go, with everyone I know, I spread the gospel of the kingdom.
