Have you ever been in a crowded, noisy room when suddenly you hear your mother calling your name? Even through all the chaos, you recognize that voice instantly. Why? Because it’s familiar to you.

What about your relationship with God? Do you think you can hear from Him?

Maybe you’ve heard someone say, “God told me…” and thought, “Why doesn’t God speak to me like that?”

The truth is, the ability to hear God is not reserved for people who have been Christians for a long time. It is not limited to pastors or prophets. Hearing God is your inheritance as a child of God. It’s your right and your reality!

John 10:27
New King James Version
[27] My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

Jesus didn’t say some of My sheep. He said My sheep. All of them. If you belong to Jesus, if you’re saved? Then you hear His voice! Hearing God is not something you aspire to be; it’s something you already have access to.

At salvation, something wonderful happened! The veil that once separated us from the Most Holy Place (the presence of God) was torn.

Matthew 27:51
New King James Version
[51] Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split.
‭‭
This represented the access to God that was previously unavailable. We now have access to the Father! No more distance. No more veil. No more needing a priest to speak on your behalf. No more limitations. Through Christ, we’ve been reconciled to God, and through the Holy Spirit, we now live in active communion with Him!

John 1:1, 14
New King James Version
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God
[14] And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…

That word ‘dwelt’ means tabernacled, to set up residence. To pitch a tent. What used to be temporary and external (like the Ark of the Covenant or the Tabernacle) became permanent in Christ. God didn’t want to live in a building; He wanted to live in you. So, if God dwells in you, then of course, He speaks to you.

This is why Paul can boldly say:

1 Corinthians 3:16
New King James Version
[16] Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

This is your new reality: God’s Spirit in you!
Not visitation, habitation.
Not occasional, constant.

Romans 8:14, 16
New King James Version
[14] For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God
[16] The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

You don’t always need the spectacular. The Spirit of God within you is constantly communicating, leading, prompting, guiding, and yes, speaking to you!

Hebrews 1:1-2
New King James Version
[1] God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
[2] has in these last days spoken to us by His Son…

In the Old Covenant, people had to rely on prophets to hear from God. They didn’t have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them like we do. But now, in these last days, we have the Spirit IN us. He speaks to us. Directly. Through His Spirit, through His Word, through His Son.

The voice of God is not far. It’s not something you chase. It’s within you! Let this sink in: You can hear God!

Still doubting? Remember that baby responding to their mother’s voice. It’s natural. It’s instinctive. It’s a relationship.

And guess what? This relationship goes both ways.

1 John 5:14
New King James Version
[14] Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

So not only do you hear God? He hears you too.

You’re not talking into the void. You’re not guessing. There’s a relationship. A dialogue. And every time you speak to Him, you can be confident that heaven hears.

So if you’ve ever doubted whether you can hear from God, let that doubt die today. God has already spoken. He continues to speak. And you? You can hear. No more disqualifying yourself. You’re His sheep. You know His voice. Don’t ignore it. Don’t downplay it. Don’t assume others hear better than you. Grow in it. Lean into it. Because your life depends on it!

Prayer Point
Father, thank You for the access I now have, thank You that I no longer live in silence or confusion. Teach me to recognize Your voice, to trust Your leading, and to lean in daily. Let every distraction that tries to drown out Your voice be silenced.
