Perfectly Whole: Living In Good Health
2 Timothy 1:7
At times, when we read Psalms 105:37, we might try to think through it logically, asking ourselves, how is it possible for a people as many as the Israelites to stay perfectly healthy for years?
Psalms 105:37
New King James Version
37 He also brought them out with silver and gold, And there was none feeble among His tribes.
Then you may go on to ask yourself, “Is this actually possible in my life?”
Today, we’re going to see that it is.
Over the past few days, we have learnt that it is indeed God’s will for you to be healed of any sickness. By faith, we receive the healing that God has already provided in the finished work of Christ on the cross.
Now that we know how to receive our healing, we’re going to learn how to maintain that healing, how to walk in good health. This can indeed become a reality in your life, but only when you insist on divine health and honour your body through wisdom.
Just like the children of Israel, it was said of them that “none was feeble”. That can be your testimony too.
You can walk in divine health by staying rooted in the Word. You must continually immerse yourself in the Word of God by studying and confessing it too.
Proverbs 18:21 says
New King James Version
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
This verse shows us that in our kingdom, words carry power. Talk is not cheap here. The words we speak can affect and radically change our reality. You can declare divine health and actually see yourself walk in it every single day.
Not only are your words important but your thoughts are too.
The Bible says in;
Proverbs 23:7
New King James Version
7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.
What you say needs to align with what you think too. As you speak life over your body, rebuke every thought of ill health. Fill your mind with God’s word.
Warfare begins in the mind. It is where the devil tries to sow seeds of wrong ideologies concerning your health and that of your family. But as a believer in Christ, you have the authority to tear down such ideologies, bringing every thought into obedience to Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says
New King James Version
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,
5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
You can not allow the devil to win the battle of your mind. Don’t give the devil the upper hand in your life. Whatever you allow to dominate your mind will dominate your life.
If you believe you can’t walk in divine health, then you won’t. So it is your responsibility to take authority, stand on God’s word, and insist on divine health. No one will do this for you. This is your part to play.
Scripture tells us in:
2 Timothy 1:7
New King James Version
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Don’t let the devil get you afraid and worried that you won’t be in good health. We can not allow fear to rule our hearts. Insist on the truth of God’s word today
Apart from speaking health into being, one thing you must not ignore as you insist on walking in divine health is WISDOM.
Knowing that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, this knowledge must produce action, i.e., honouring your body because it is the temple of God.
So, you must treat your body with wisdom.
Like Scripture says in
Proverbs 4:7, “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom…”
So, how do we apply wisdom to walk in divine health?
I Timothy 4:8
New King James Version
8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
From this text, we can see that bodily exercise indeed is profitable. Although compared to the benefit of godliness, that of bodily exercise is little, but still necessary. There is wisdom in this. You can keep speaking health over your body while your daily actions are contrary to your words.
Medically, a sedentary lifestyle has been proven to significantly increase the risk of chronic diseases, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers.
So you must act like you truly honour your body and want to live in good health.
Take walks, jog, go to the gym if need be. Take care of your body. Don’t think that because you’re insisting on divine health, you don’t need to apply wisdom to take care of your body.
Another step to take in wisdom is eating right. Don’t take your nutrition for granted.
Watch what you eat. Eat a balanced diet, as much as is within your purchasing power. Eat in moderation, refuse gluttony.
Proverbs 25:16
New King James Version
16 Have you found honey? Eat only as much as you need, Lest you be filled with it and vomit.
Remember, your body is the temple of God, and you must treat it as such.
Not only is nutrition important, but rest is too. You must know when to take a break to avoid your body breaking down.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
New King James Version
1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:
There is a time for everything. Ensure you listen to what your body is telling you, rest when you need it.
And overall, you must walk in moderation and discipline. Give the devil no place in your mind.
Insist on God’s word that good health is your inheritance in Christ. Apply wisdom and walk in the confidence that divine health is your portion. If God could keep the Israelites in perfect health, He can keep you too.
Prayer Point
I declare that I walk in divine health every day of my life. Sickness has no place here. My body is the temple of God, and I treat it as such.
