Prayer & Fasting: Miracles
Mark 11:24
Having expectations can be likened to placing buckets out at the sight of clouds gathering. Just as the buckets are set out to catch the raindrops, setting the right expectations positions us to receive all that God has for us in a special meeting. When it comes to miracles, your expectation is the container that determines how much of God’s supernatural power you will receive.
You cannot afford to approach this camp meeting with a casual attitude toward miracles. God is ready to do unprecedented things, but you must be positioned to receive them. Tonight, we establish the foundation for expecting miracles, not just hoping for them, but positioning yourself to receive them before, during, and throughout every session of this camp meeting.
Luke 8:43-44
New King James Version
43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,
44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.
This text highlights the power of expectation in receiving miracles from God. The woman with the issue of blood fought through a crowd just to touch Jesus’ garment. That is hunger for a miracle. Her strong faith and expectation led to her instant healing. Her “hunger” drew out her miracle from Christ. The power of God flowed in her direction because she positioned herself to receive it.
Luke 7:7
New King James Version
7 Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.
Jesus was already close to the house of this centurion who sought the healing of his servant, but he had so much faith that all he needed was for Jesus to say a word for his servant to be healed. This communicates a great level of expectation for miracles. He expected that at the word of Jesus, his servant would be made whole and he received it.
This shows you what is possible when your faith is channeled rightly toward miracles. In both cases, they had no doubt that the power of God would manifest even without direct contact or distance (in the case of the centurion) between the situation and Jesus. They expected miracles and they received them.
God has a track record of meeting and exceeding expectations when it comes to miracles! He is a providential God who anticipates our needs even before we know that we need them. Knowing this is whom you are coming to meet, your expectations for miracles should be through the roof!
Genesis 28:16-18
New King James Version
16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.”
17 And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”
18 Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it.
God was in the place where Jacob was and Jacob did not know it. You on the other hand are aware that God has called a meeting that would bless you with miracles and you are aware God wants to meet you. So, you don’t have to be like Jacob. Your testimony should be “God was in that place and I knew it, I expected His miracles, I prepared for them and indeed I was changed by them!”
Acts 5:12-16
New King James Version
12 And through the hands of the apostles, many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch.
13 Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly.
14 And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,
15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.
16 Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
The Bible says, “they were ALL healed”! Not some, not a few—ALL! This was a season of concentrated miracles. People brought their sick into the streets just so Peter’s shadow could fall on them. They had stretched their expectation beyond the normal and positioned themselves for the supernatural. Understand that camp is also a time where miracles are bound to happen. And you can receive if only you stretch your expectations for them.
When expectation and hunger meet the power of God, there are endless possibilities for miracles. You must not limit what God can do for you and others. Your miracle might be healing that restores what years have stolen, financial breakthrough that changes your family’s story, or deliverance from strongholds that have held you captive. Just expect the miracle to happen.
Your miracle might not come in the first session, but that doesn’t mean it won’t come in the second, third, or final session. Don’t let delayed answers reduce your expectations.
So, set your expectations for miracles and this is how you can do it:
- Write Down Your Specific Miracle Requests. Don’t just hope for “something good” to happen. Write down exactly what you need God to do. Be specific! When you write it down, you’re making it real in your mind and creating a point of reference for your faith.
- Celebrate Other People’s Miracles. When you see God move in someone else’s life, celebrate it loudly! Their miracle is proof that God is working. Their breakthrough is evidence that yours is next. Don’t let jealousy or comparison steal your joy—let their victory fuel your expectation.
- Pray in Tongues Consistently. Your prayer language connects you to the supernatural realm. Pray in tongues before sessions, during worship, and whenever you feel your expectation waning. Let the Spirit intercede for miracles you can’t even articulate.
Mark 11:24
New King James Version
24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
As we continue to prepare towards camp meeting, do so with intentionality and believe that the miracles you have asked for, you shall receive in line with the plans of God for your life. If you have not set your expectations for miracles, do so today. Be intentional about it.
If it means buying a notepad specifically for this cause, pasting them on your mirror or setting an alarm every day to remind yourself to pray specifically for those miracles, then do it. Let your hunger for miracles begin to rise and let it show in your preparation.
Prayer Point
Father, I refuse to limit what You can do in my life during this camp meeting. I position my heart to expect and receive miracles before, during, and through every session. I declare that no situation in my life is too hard for You, and I will not leave this meeting the same way I came. Let the impossible become possible in my life!
