We are six days away from the new year and in a bid to remind you of how you started the year, here’s a question to ponder on: “What has God done with your life in 1 year? It sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

Because the question you started the year with was “What can God do with my life in 12 months?”
Today, think back on this and see the prophecies you started the year with and audit what you did and didn’t do. This reflection would bring you to one conclusion: it is one thing to hear from God and it is another to continually live in the reality of all you heard.

As we prepare to enter the new year, it is important that you are conscious not to repeat the same mistakes from this year. You cannot end 2026 with words, prophecies and instructions that you didn’t carry out. This is why throughout this month, a large part of our devotional emphasis has been on prophecies.

And we would top it all off today by praying fervently over our words, promises and prophecies for 2026 intentionally holding onto what God has already spoken over our lives and what His word says about us.

Isaiah 55:11
New King James Version
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Before we begin raising prayers, it is important to remind ourselves of who we are praying to. We are praying to the God that speaks and His words carry the power to bring themselves to pass. The one who says a thing and it and none of it would fail. If God has a track record of keeping His word, the one He told you won’t be an exception.

We see this as the testimony of the children of Israel in:
Joshua 21:45
New King James Version
45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

Not a word failed! All came to pass! This is our focus as we pray today: we know the reputation of our God to bring to pass all that He has spoken, and so we go into the year ready to do every single thing He instructs us to because He always backs up His words.

And today, we are not just going to stop at prophecies spoken over us, we would also insist in the place of prayer over God’s promises in scriptures for our families, our homes, our careers, our finances, our ministries and our lives in general.

Ephesians 6:12, 18
New King James Version
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickeness in the heavenly places.

18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

In this text, the Apostle Paul makes it clear: we’re in a fight. Not against people, but against spiritual forces of darkness. And he goes on in verses 13-17 to speak of the armor of God then in verse 18, he admonishes us, finally, to pray. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.”

You need to know that just as you have received plans from God for 2026, the devil has a plan for your 2026 also, and he plans to do all he can to bring it to pass. Unlike the plans that God has for your life, the devil plans to ruin you—to sift you and to take your focus from God and from what truly matters.

However, how you prepare for the year can greatly impact your discernment of the enemy’s schemes and your response to the devil’s orchestrations. In the place of prayer, you can begin to war against the plans of the enemy and insist on the promises of God over your life. You can align yourself to God’s will for your life and have an unwavering trust in the words He has spoken over you and the promises over your life.

Hence, as we pray today, do so from the place of understanding who your God is and all that He has promised over your life. Declare over your life, your family, and your 2026.

Prayer Focuses
Prayer 1: Father, thank You for every prophecy and word You have spoken over my life. Thank You because not one of Your words will fail, I know that You are faithful and able to bring all that You have spoken to pass, You have a track record of keeping Your word and my life is not an exception.

Prayer 2: Lord, grant me the grace to hold onto Your word with faith and patience. In 2026, I do not grow weary or discouraged while waiting on the manifestation of prophesy, but I remain expectant and aligned with Your purpose. I am not fazed or distracted by circumstances around me.

Prayer 3: I declare over every promise in Your word for my family and loved ones. I pray that in 2026, they are all kept and protected even as Your word says. All that concerns me is taken care of: my family, my husband, my children, my career, my finances, my relationship and my ministry.

Prayer 4: Father, I totally commit all my life and dealings in 2026 to you. This life is yours to lead, guide and direct. I walk with your instructions for me and at the end of the year I would be spent and used up for you.

Amen!

As you step into a new year, do not step empty-handed. Carry with you the words God has spoken and the promises over your life from scriptures. Let them guide your prayers, shape your expectations, and anchor your faith

God is faithful, His word is powerful, and every prophecy He has spoken over your life will come to pass if only you hold onto them, pray over them, let His word and instruction direct you and finally, trust Him to bring it to pass just as He has promised.
