Preparation For Camp Meeting: Remember
I Timothy 1:18
The same can be said in this case concerning the upcoming camp meeting. One way to ready our hearts for what God is set to do is to remember all the things he did and said to us last year. What were the instructions you got in the last camp meeting? What was imparted to you? And more importantly, what have you done with what you received at the last meeting?
Remembrance is an intentional act, a profound expression of faith and trust. The ability to actively recall what God has spoken—especially during this times of preparation—grounds us in His faithfulness and encourages a heart of even more obedience, preparing us to receive and act on future instructions.
As we look forward to the upcoming Christ Life Camp, this time should stir in us a deep desire for reflection. It is essential to revisit and faithfully apply the prophetic words and guidance we have received in previous gatherings.
God values stewardship—the commitment to remember, obey, and honour His instructions. This readiness and faithfulness in obedience not only pleases Him but also prepares our hearts to receive the fresh direction He desires to impart.
Habakkuk 2:2-3
New King James Version
2 Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.
In the passage above, the Lord instructs that the vision is to be recorded to be read and acted upon. Are there instructions we have left dormant? God calls us not only to hear but to act on them, to be faithful and obedient to past instructions. This is how to build the foundation for receiving even more.
Each act of obedience to prophecy positions us to live in alignment with God’s plan.
1 Timothy 1:8, 18
New King James Version
8 But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully,
18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare
The Apostle Paul talking to Timothy here, tells him that prophecies are meant to be tools for warfare, for encouragement, and perseverance when it comes to the things of God.
The ability to recall past words that have been fulfilled right before our eyes strengthens us against doubt and reminds us that if He can fulfil those words He spoke to us about in the past, then He is ready to fulfil whatever else He tells us.
Are there words God has spoken to you that remain unfulfilled? Sometimes, we overlook instructions from the past while waiting eagerly for new words. But it should not be so:
Genesis 18:16-19
New King James Version
16 Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way.
17 And the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing,
18 since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
19 For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”
God chose to share His plans with Abraham because He knew Abraham would act on His words. This trust was rooted in Abraham’s history of obedience. God knew that Abraham wouldn’t just hear His instructions but would faithfully carry them out.
Consider this: What have you done with the words, graces, and opportunities God has already given you? If you feel as though you haven’t received more, it’s worth reflecting on how you’ve responded to past instructions and gifts.
Have you acted on the last word, the last instruction, the last impartation? God entrusts more to those who faithfully steward what they’ve already been given.
Abraham didn’t just listen—he acted. When God called, he packed his things and followed without hesitation. It is easy to say that we want to be like Abraham. But are we willing to act with that same obedience and trustworthiness?
So ask yourself, ”Can God trust me with critical instructions?” Perhaps, His ability to lead you further depends on how you’ve handled His previous words. If you are faithful with the small things, God can entrust you with greater things.
As the camp meeting approaches, set aside time to review any prophetic instructions or promises you’ve received, go through the things that are yet to be done and continue to pray for grace to be faithful with past words as you prepare to receive new ones.
You could even go back and re-stream the sessions of the last camp meeting and refresh your memory on what was already said. It’s never too late to act on the previous instructions.
Prayer Point
Lord, thank You for the words of prophecies You have entrusted to me in the past. Help me to be faithful in remembering and acting on Your instructions. As I pray now, I stir up a fresh desire to fulfil all you have said. Prepare my heart and mind for the new things You have in store.
