Preparation For Camp Meeting: Why We Retreat
Exodus 34:28-30
As believers, we are in a battle already won against the kingdom of darkness and meetings like this one equip you with fresh instructions, fortify you for the work ahead, and prepare you for all God wants to accomplish through you. Special camp meetings are essential for shaping you into what God envisions.
Exodus 34:28-30
New King James Version
28 So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drink water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.
29 Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.
30 So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.
The first thing you must take away from this scripture is that Moses was on mount Sinai, he was separated unto God and he received instructions on how to better lead the people of Israel for many years to come.
It doesn’t stop there; the Bible says that his face shone brightly! So there was an outward testimony that he had been with God. You must purpose in your heart that at the end of camp meeting, it would be very evident that you have been with God such that you wouldn’t need to announce or convince anyone of it.
Expect to be built up! Expect to be strengthened for the work! Expect to meet with Abba! At camp meetings, you can expect that your life would be changed and transformed because these are the results of retreats- that a man comes back refurbished, better than he was before.
1 Samuel 22:1-2
New King James Version
1 David therefore departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. So, when his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him.
2 And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So, he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.
The Bible explained the type of people around David to be bitter souls. Many were in debt and in distress but as we advance further, the Bible records that these same men with him in Adullam were called the mighty men of David’s army.
After their experience in that cave, they became the mighty men of David. Their time away at Adullam transformed them. There was a shift that caused them to move from a place of destitution to strength. They moved from a place of hopelessness to hope. They were built at Adullam.
When we retreat, we can be refurbished! We can be sharpened, we can go from a place of lack of consistency to a consistent form, lack of convictions to a place where we are thoroughly convinced and that is what camp meeting is set to do for you.
It will be a time where you are thoroughly convinced. A time where broken altars will be repaired. A change will happen at a camp meeting, one that will leave you for the better. In this meeting, instructions for the next phase will be given, capacity will be built, we would be strengthened until we morph into all that God wants us to be.
Acts 3:19-21
New King James Version
19 Repent therefore and be converted, thar your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord
20 and that He may send Jesus Christ, who preached to you before,
21 whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.
The Bible promises times of refreshing for those who are saved. It is something you get to enjoy now. You don’t have to go months without having these times. Special meetings like these are here to cause such a time of refreshing in your life where you have clear direction, instructions on consecration, and your desires aligned with the Lord’s. It is the will of God for you.
Set your heart to ensure this retreat changes you. Leave with a renewed sense of purpose, fully equipped and transformed for the journey God has set before you.
Prayer Point
Lord, in this time of retreat, I step into all You have for me. I leave strengthened, equipped, refreshed, and renewed.
