One of the biggest advantages of being a believer is enjoying supernatural leadership; that is, having the privilege of knowing what to do at the right time, according to the leadings and timings of God. But sometimes, we do not always live our lives as planned, there are times when we do not follow the leading of God for one reason or another which could be fear of failure, sin, or we were just not as serious with our walk with God.

Having learned about Kairos and Chronos, we understand that Kairos is Chronos well managed. Because for an opportunity to be perfect, it must be met with adequate preparation. Without the right preparation, you will most likely miss out on opportunities.

If you have not yielded the leadings of God or have not been preparing for the opportunities God brings your way, there’s a tendency to feel like those opportunities have been missed forever and there is no room for Kairos anymore.

It may be as simple as having a lead to start a podcast or as difficult as having the lead to quit your well-paying job or move to a new country that you haven’t acted on because of your fears. Maybe God told you these things 5 years ago and 5 years later you still haven’t obeyed.  Not to worry, “there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease” (Job 14:7, KJV).

God has factored in your frailties and weaknesses in his plans for you and that prophecy he promised is still very valid. So even if you didn’t follow the leading of God five years ago, now is the next best time to do so.

News flash, those prophecies you got from God have not yet expired because God is more committed to his words than you are. Yes, those promises, God is more committed to making them happen than you could ever be. Psalms 138 vs 2b says: “For thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name” (KJV). He has got times and seasons in His hands so He can restore the lost time, even the years that the cankerworms and locusts have eaten.

While God is willing and able to restore the lost time, the times of Chronos that were not well managed, and the time of Kairos that were not used; there is still hope. However, you have a part to play when it comes to buying back the lost time. God doesn’t do all the work. There has to be your willingness and effrort in the restoration of time.

Genesis 28:13-16

King James Version

13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

The Lord appeared to Jacob while he slept in the wilderness after fleeing from home, and he was unaware of what was going on. It was a Kairos encounter, but he missed it. However, that did not take away the blessings God pronounced, neither did Jacob beat himself up about it. He continued on his journey, he moved on, and he didn’t let that stop him.

When it seems like you have missed out on a Kairos opportunity, that is not the time to look back and complain about it. Yes Jacob missed out on what could have been an encounter with God, but he didn’t sit back and gloat or think about what could have been, instead, he moved on (Genesis chapter 29).

Ephesians 5:15-17

King James Version

15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Apostle Paul is talking to the Church in Ephesus to be wise, and cautious in their journey, redeeming the time. You may have wasted time in obeying what God has said. You may even be on a different path entirely. But the instruction here is to redeem the time. How do I redeem the time? You may ask. It’s in verse 17- understanding what the will of God is, knowing what God will have you do. How do you know what God will have you do? You know this in the place of prayer.

Acts 13:2-3

King James Version

2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

The Apostles prayed to God, and while they prayed, “the Holy Ghost said”. Therefore we know that when we pray, the Holy Ghost speaks. We not only receive divine instructions in the place of prayer, but we also know what to do by prayer. By prayer, we can discern the heart of God concerning our lives and act accordingly.

Furthermore, there are actions to take after prayer. Once you are clear on what God will have you do, the time to act is now. It is the time to follow the instructions of God like the Apostles did; they sent Barnabas and Saul away without any hesitation.

In conclusion, missing out on a Kairos opportunity is not the end of the world. You can redeem the lost time with the advantage of the Holy Ghost. There is such a thing as supernatural speed, where God propels you faster than what is humanly possible, that a journey that should take 5 years becomes one year, or rather than starting from the bottom the bottom, God propels you to start at the top. That’s the supernatural advantage we have that just like Isaac in Genesis 26:12, you can sow in the land and reap in the same year. Therefore, even if you have missed out on Kairos moments, you can redeem the time with the direction of the Holy Spirit, and travel faster by supernatural speed.

Prayer Point:

Thank you father for your divine timings, thank you that even if I have missed out on your timings for my life, you are able to restore. I declare that I redeem the lost time, I receive clear instructions as I pray and I respond with swift actions.
