Luke 10:17-18
New King James Version
17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.’
18 And He said to them, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.’

When Jesus sent out the seventy disciples, they returned with excitement. They had seen demons submit to His name. They had tasted what it meant to walk in spiritual authority. But Jesus’ reply was not simply, “Well done.” Instead, He gave them a picture: “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”

So far this week, we have established that the believer’s life is not meant to be ordinary. In the first part of this series, we explored the reality of God’s power still being active today. Then, we looked at the blueprint for walking in it. Now, we are going to learn how, as believers, we can walk in victory over the devil.

In the text we read above, we see that while the disciples rejoiced in the experience of supernatural power, Jesus was pointing them to the truth behind it! The devil is already defeated, and we have victory over sin, sickness, and death! Jesus said He saw Satan fall, but He didn’t just stop there;

Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭18‬-‭19‬ ‭
New King James Version
18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
‭‭
And this is where a number of us believers miss it these days. We go into prayer, ministry, or even daily life acting as though we are trying to win against the devil. But in Christ, the victory has already been secured.

The apostle Paul confirms this in Colossians 2:15:
New King James Version
15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

Notice the past tense, “disarmed,” “triumphed.” This is not a battle waiting for a conclusion; the conclusion is already written! Jesus stripped the enemy of authority, and because you are united with Christ, you share in that triumph.
Hallelujah!!

Paul expands on this in Ephesians 2:6 (NKJV):
“…and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

Your position is not on the battlefield, begging for victory. Your position is in Christ — above principalities, above powers, above every name that is named (Ephesians 1:21).

There’s a saying that “Abuse is inevitable authority when the purpose of a thing is not known.” Authority that you are not conscious of is authority you cannot exercise. The seventy rejoiced because they saw demons obey. Jesus wanted them to live in a higher reality: to see the devil already fallen before they ever confronted him.

This is why perspective matters in spiritual warfare. But if you see him as Christ does, fallen, disarmed, and under your feet, you will act with boldness.

Dear believer, victory over the devil is not about feeling powerful; it’s about walking in the reality that is ours through Christ

Temptation, fear, sickness, oppression, all these are real, but none have the right to dominate you. You are not a victim hoping to survive; you have Victory!!

That means when you encounter demonic opposition, you don’t have to wonder whether it will respond. You speak with the authority of the One who already won. This is why Mark 16:17 (NKJV) says:
“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons…”

This isn’t a maybe, it doesn’t say “some people” but it’s a guarantee for those who believe and act on it! EVERY SINGLE PERSON that believe can cast out demons and do exploits.

The devil’s greatest weapon is deception and convincing believers to fight as though they are at a disadvantage. But when your eyes are opened to the reality of his defeat, you become dangerous to the kingdom of darkness!!

So dear believer, see the devil as Christ sees him: fallen. Speak to situations as one who has already overcome. Enforce the victory with the authority you have in the name of Jesus!

Prayer Point
I declare that Satan is under my feet, disarmed and defeated, and I walk daily in the authority You have given me.
