What To Do After a Camp Meeting: Keep the Fire Burning 2
2 Timothy 1:6
No matter how intense a physical fire is, it must be sustained by three major components: fuel, heat, and oxygen. Once any of these is removed from the equation, the fire ceases to exist. In the same way that physical fire must be sustained in order to keep burning, spiritual fire also requires consistent sustenance.
What a meeting Shekinah was, indeed the glory of God was felt, you received something that not just changed your life but changed your destiny, that would impart your generation, but just like physical fire must be sustained by major components, the fire you received must also be sustained.
At camp meeting, you prayed, you encountered God, and you were transformed. You received so much, but it would not matter what you received if you cannot sustain it. What you experienced was a divine planting. Now, you have the responsibility of nurturing what you received and maintaining it.
It’s good to be excited about the words you received, the prophecies declared over you, and the divine instructions you heard. But for these things to become reality in your life, you must steward them in prayer. It’s not enough to write them down in a notebook and leave them there. God may have said it, but what are you doing with what He said?
Scripture says in 2 Samuel 7:17-18
New King James Version
17 According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
18 Then King David went in and sat before the Lord; and he said: “Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far?
Here we see David’s response to prophecy. He could have celebrated and gone about his day, but instead, he took the words before the Lord. The prophecy took him deeper in prayer. That is how a man ready to walk with God responds. Can that be your response too?
Maybe you’ve attended other camp meetings before. You’ve received words and prophecies, but they never seemed to manifest. Let this stir something in you, it is not just about excitement, one thing you must understand is that the difference between receiving the word and effectiveness is prayer.
So, just like David, sit with the Lord. Don’t let those prophecies or instructions lay fallow. Ask questions in the place of prayer. Gain more clarity. Keep praying until you see them become a reality in your life.
One of the great benefits of prayer in the life of a believer is that prayer builds strength.
Ephesians 3:14-16
New King James Version
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.
To build physical strength, you go to the gym. But to build spiritual strength, you go into prayer. That weakness you feel, that sense of being too small or inadequate to do what God has asked, is resolved in the place of prayer. Prayer strengthens your inner man. Prayer makes you better.
Camp meeting is over, but your need for prayer is not. Don’t overcompensate by resting now. Set structures for consistent prayer and guard them with discipline.
Be consistent, not just for the first few weeks or months after camp, be consistent all through the year and beyond. It is possible to burn for God continuously, without coldness, without decline. But this requires intentionality. It requires keeping to structures. Have a life of prayer, where it is discernable that you are a man of prayer.
Let this time be different.
Maybe after previous meetings your fire went cold, or the light faded. But tell yourself, this time would be different, I would not miss any structure set for me, I would go to the next camp meeting to intensify my burning flame, I would never stop burning. This must be your attitude, but it won’t happen automatically you must be intentional to build up your inner man
2 Timothy 1:6 (NKJV) says:
6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
You have been imparted with gifts and graces. But just like Apostle Paul told Timothy, it is your responsibility to stir them up. Stir them through prayer. Stir them through study. God has great plans for your life. But there are things you would not be able to achieve if you are not a man of the Word and of prayer; the words spoken over you will remain mere potential.
So today, your charge is this: stir up what you have received. Don’t settle for having received the words, war with them. Pray until they become evident in your life.
Prayer Point
Father, thank You for all I received at Shekinah. Thank You for the words, the instructions, and the prophecies. I declare that I will not sit on what I have received. I will pray, stir up, and build upon it until I see its full manifestation. I receive grace for consistency, and I declare my fire will not go out.
