Almost everyone has experienced periods where they struggled with getting something done for a long time. You then realized later on that a tool or method had been designed for the very purpose of making that particular task easier for anyone handling it.

Well for some of us, that might as well be the case every time we are faced with life decisions if we do not learn what we are discussing today. Sometimes, it is almost impossible to picture the kind of man scripture paints for us to be because of the level of “perfection” or excellence that he portrays. It may seem daunting to many that the man scripture describes is who we ought to be. But it would only seem so if we plan to achieve such status by human ability.

Let’s take a look at a Bible text:

2 Timothy 3:16-17

King James Version

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The passage above tells us that the scriptures are given for the profit of the believer with specific necessities that would equip him and bring him to a state of “perfection”. We must note that this perfection isn’t what the worlds deems as being perfect but more so a state completeness or readiness. That is lacking nothing. So all in all the Word of God can make you complete such that you have all you need for every good work.

God has it in mind to make us men who are proficient, men who have been equipped thoroughly and are perfectly fitted to handle every single one of His assignments.
It is important to understand as a believer that every resource needed to become the man God has called you to be has been provided for you and today we will be looking at one of them.

A scan through the scriptures and even looking at the lives of many believers today reveals many attractive and spectacular attributes that come with walking with God. Like the ability to split the Red Sea, to stop the sun or to single-handedly defeat a lion with your bare hands, but there’s one very important quality that comes with walking with God: wisdom. It is something God freely gives to the people who walk with Him.

James 1:5

King James Version

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Proverbs 2:6

King James Version

6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

The Bible lets us know that there is such a thing as wisdom from the Lord, and God is in no way trying to hoard it. It is for the believer. It is for you and God desires that you walk in wisdom.

Looking through the scriptures, we see how particular God is about details, and how He makes sure to provide for the needs of His people way before they even realize the gap in want. If this is the case, then it would not be a good thing when He makes a provision for the believer and the believer remains unaware of it

So maybe this is a wake-up call because the believer must know that he has wisdom from God and can walk in it.

Wisdom is a necessity for all believers because:

1. We have been called to live differently from the world.

Proverbs 14:12

New King James Version

12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

A lot of the time when it comes to attaining what the world deems as success or influence or certain favourable results there are ways through which a man in the world would achieve it. Ever heard phrases like, “That’s just how it’s done” or “If you can’t beat them join them”. These are sayings borne out of conformation to the world’s ways of attaining good results, but the ways that may seem right may not be within God’s will or plan for you.

Isaiah 55:8-9

New King James Version

8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.

9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Fortunately for us, we have access to the wisdom of God which is higher than man’s wisdom, to guide us and help us resist conformation to the world’s ways of doing things. We stand out when we walk in God’s wisdom!

2. God plans to change the world through you.

Matthew 5:14-16

King James Version

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Your life, though short here on Earth, is full of world-changing potential and is part of the grand scheme of God’s plan and therefore requires a level of meticulousness

Matthew 10:16

New King James Version

16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”

Jesus needs us to be wise to do the work he has sent us. We must put all aspects of our lives into consideration. This means that the wisdom of God ought to reflect in our finances, the way we conduct ourselves, and even in our relationships.

3. We have been saved to save others and must live like it.

Colossians 4:5-6

King James Version

5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Knowing fully well that we are in the business of soul-winning calls for us to walk in wisdom since every interaction is an opportunity to bring men closer to Christ. The way we speak, the conversations we have, the company we keep, and how we carry ourselves; everything must be done in wisdom to attract and retain men in the kingdom of God.

In essence, we as believers need to be reminded that wisdom is a crucial part of our walk with God and that God has given us all the wisdom we need for all He would have us do.

Prayer Point:

Lord, as I am reminded of the importance of your wisdom today, it reflects in every aspect of my life to the fullest.
